Installing the Host and VRM

See the FusionSphere Virtualization Suite 6.5.0 Product Documentation.

  • When configuring the server, configure two local SAS disks as RAID1 and two SSDs as RAID0.
  • The CNA, VRM, FA, TCM, teacher template, and teacher VMs must be installed on and provisioned to local storage provided by the SAS disk group. The student template and student VMs must be installed and provisioned to data storage provided by the SSD group.
  • Configure the accurate local time on the installation host.

Enabling IGMP Snooping on the VRM

Scenario

This section guides software installation engineers to enable the IGMP Snooping function on distributed switches of the VRM.

Procedure
  1. In the address bar of the browser, enter https://IP address of the VRM node and press Enter.
  2. On FusionCompute, choose in the navigation tree on the left.
  3. The Resource Pools page is displayed.
  4. Choose Resource Pools > Network.

    The Network page is displayed.

  5. In the row of ManagementDVS, click Edit.
  6. In the Modify dialog box, enable IGMP Snooping by referring to Figure 2-2.

  7. Click Confirm.

Optimizing FusionCompute Components

Scenario

This section provides guidance on how to modify parameters on VRM VMs for better concurrency performance.

Procedure
  1. Use PuTTY to log in to the VRM VM as user gandalf, and switch to user root.
  2. Run the following python script to optimize parameters.

    python /opt/galax/vrm/tomcat/script/vdi_modify_vrm_cfg.py set CreateVm_Pending=10 CreateVm_Release_Interval=10 StartVm_Pending=10 HaVm_Pending=10 HaVm_Release_Interval=10 StopVm_Pending=10 RebootVm_Pending=10 RebootVm_Release_Interval=10 DeleteVm_Pending=5 CloneVm_Pending=20

  3. Run the service vrmd restart command to restart the VRM service.
  4. Use PuTTY to log in to the CNA node as user gandalf, and switch to user root.
  5. Run the python /opt/vna/sbin/vdi_modify_vna_cfg.py modify script to configure CNA host server.
  6. Run the service vna-scheduler restart command to restart the vna-scheduler service.

Configuring Data Stores

Scenario

This section guides software installation engineers to add data stores on the VRM.

Procedure
  1. Type http://IP address of the VRM node in the address box of the browser and press Enter.
  2. On FusionCompute, choose in the navigation tree on the left.
  3. The Resource Pools page is displayed.
  4. Choose Resource Pools > Storage.

    The Storage page is displayed.

  5. On the Data Store tab page, select Add Data Store.
  6. The Add Data Store dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-3.

  7. In the list of storage devices, select an SSD, and click Next.

    The Add Data Store page is displayed.

  8. Set the data store name and set the usage mode to Virtualization. In the Associate Host area, select the host to which you want to add the data store, and click Next.

    The Information page is displayed.

  9. Click Confirm.

    The Confirm Info page is displayed. Confirm the information and click Confirm.

Configuring a FusionCompute Password Policy

Scenario

This section guides administrators to adjust the FusionCompute password policy to prevent password loss caused by password expiry. It is recommended that the validity period of passwords be set to permanent.

Procedure
  1. Log in to FusionCompute.
  2. On FusionCompute, choose in the navigation tree on the left. The System page is displayed.
  3. Choose System >Rights Management > Password Policy.

    The Password Policy page is displayed, on which you can check the current password policies.

  4. Click Modify.

    Parameters on the Password Policy page are editable.

  5. Set Password expiry alert (days) to 0.

    Value 0 indicates that passwords are valid permanently.

  6. Click Save.

    In the Information dialog box that is displayed, click Confirm.
