Bandwidth Requirements

Bandwidth Requirements

The desktop cloud bandwidth is closely related to user behavior. In routine teaching scenarios, the minimum bandwidth in each classroom is about 15 Mbit/s.

  • Egress bandwidth in single-classroom scenarios:
    • In common teaching scenarios, such as teaching with Word and Excel, the minimum bandwidth in each classroom is 15 Mbit/s.
    • If software requiring high bandwidths (such as PhotoShop and Flash CS6) is running, you are advised to allocate a bandwidth of 1 Mbit/s for each student (that is, 60 Mbit/s for 60 students) to handle the possible large number of concurrent requests generated in student self-learning scenarios, thereby ensuring user experience.
    • In video playing scenarios, bandwidth planning is as follows:
      • Local video playing (480p): The average single-user bandwidth is 5.9 Mbit/s.
      • Local video playing (720p): The average single-user bandwidth is 11 Mbit/s.
      • Local video playing (1080p): The average single-user bandwidth is 13.5 Mbit/s.

In the video playing scenario, the total bandwidth equals the production of the single-user bandwidth and the number of concurrent users.

  • Egress bandwidth in campuses:

The desktop cloud bandwidth is closely related to user behavior. In teacher OA scenarios, the average bandwidth for each teacher is planned as follows:

    • If the number of teachers is less than or equal to 100, the average bandwidth is 250 kbit/s.
    • If the number of teachers exceeds 100, the average bandwidth is 200 kbit/s.

The actual egress bandwidth in campuses is the sum of bandwidths required in teacher OA and student class scenarios. The minimum bandwidth is 15 Mbit/s, and the actual bandwidth is calculated based on the actual conditions.
