Creating a VM

Creating a VM

You can create two VMs on the ServiceCenter of the tenant plane and use the VMs as the active and standby eSight servers.

Prerequisites

  • You have obtained the name and password of user whose role is the VDC administrator.
  • You have created a VM template (VM image) and VM specifications meeting eSight requirements on the FusionSphere OpenStack OM.
  • A VPC and network that meet eSight planning requirements exist.

Procedure

The following describes how to create a VM functioning as the the active server. After creating the VM, creating another VM functioning as the the standby server.

  1. Log in to the ServiceCenter as a user whose role is the VDC administrator.

    1. Enter http://IP address of the ServiceCenter in a single-node system or floating IP address of ServiceCenter in a two-node cluster, and press Enter.
    2. Enter the user name and password, and click Login.

  2. Choose Services > Computing > Cloud Host > Huawei Cloud Host.
  3. Click Apply for.
  4. Select an AZ of the KVM type and click Next.
  5. Set Cloud Host Template to the VM image corresponding to eSight on the FusionSphere OpenStack OM. Click Next.
  6. Set Cloud Host Specifications and click Next.

    The following table describes the parameters.

    Set it to the number of CPUs on the eSight server, for example, 24. For details, see Configuration Requirements.

    Set it to eSight VM specifications created in Creating VM Specifications.

    Storage SLA

    Storage SLA (collected in Collecting Information) to which eSight belongs.

    Set other parameters based on the site requirements. Unless otherwise specified, use the default values for other parameters.

  7. Configure the network and click Next.

    Create networks required by eSight based on Table 4-11. You can click Add NIC and add networks.

    Set it to the system IP address planned in Collecting Information.

    Network where the heartbeat IP address is located

    Network Type

    Set it to VPC Network.

    Port Type

    Set it to the common softswitch.

    VPC

    Set it to the VPC (collected in Collecting Information) to which eSight belongs.

    Name

    Enter a name of the new network, for example, eSight_HeartbeatIP_Network01.

    Network Type

    Set it to the network type of the eSight heartbeat IP address collected in Collecting Information.

    Network

    Set it to the network of the eSight heartbeat IP address collected in Collecting Information.

    IPv4

    Set it to the IP address of the heartbeat and replication network service planned in Collecting Information.

    (Optional) Network where the southbound IP address is located

    NOTE:

    This type of network needs to be created only in the southbound and northbound isolation scenario.

    Network Type

    Set it to VPC Network.

    Port Type

    Set it to the common softswitch.

    VPC

    Set it to the VPC (collected in Collecting Information) to which eSight belongs.

    Name

    Enter a name of the new network, for example, eSight_SouthIP_Network01.

    Network Type

    Set it to the network type of the eSight southbound IP address collected in Collecting Information.

    Network

    Set it to the network of the eSight southbound IP address collected in Collecting Information.

    IPv4

    Set it to the southbound IP address planned in Collecting Information.

    Set other parameters based on the site requirements. Unless otherwise specified, use the default values for other parameters.

  8. Do not set parameters in Advanced Settings and click Next.
  9. Set parameters in Basic Info and click Next.

    Table 4-12 describes parameters in Basic Info.

    Cloud Host Name

    Set it to the operating system host names of the active and standby servers in Collecting Information. This parameter must be set to different values for the active and standby servers.

    Affinity Group

    Set it to an affinity group created in Creating an Affinity Group.

    Set other parameters based on the site requirements. Unless otherwise specified, use the default values for other parameters.

  10. Check and confirm the configuration information. Click Submit.
  11. In My Applications, check whether the VMs are successfully created.

    • If the value of Status is Succeed, the VMs are successfully created.
    • If the value of Status is Failed, perform the following operations to register the VMs again:
      1. Click the corresponding Application No. to view the failure cause in the handling records.
      2. Click Back after confirming the failure causes.
      3. Click Resubmit in the operation column to create the VM again.
