Installing the eSight Software

Installing the eSight Software

This section describes how to install eSight in the SUSE Linux operating system.


  1. Use VNC to log in to the active server as the root user.
  2. Run the following commands to start the eSight installation:

    # cd /opt/install

    # chmod u+x

    # ./

    If the tool window is not displayed in the Linux operating system, rectify the fault according to What Can I Do If the Tool Window Is Not Displayed in the Linux Operating System.

    The following information is displayed:

    begin to install eSight

  3. Read the license agreement on the GUI installation wizard, select Read and Accept License Agreement, and click Install.

  4. In the Set Installation Parameters dialog box, set installation parameters and click Next.

    • If the specified installation directory does not exist, a message is displayed, asking whether to create the directory. If you click Yes, the directory is automatically created.
    • Ensure that the eSight installation directory is empty. If no, eSight installation fails.

    IP Address Type

    IP address type of the eSight server.


    Server IP Address

    Use the default value.


    Server IPv6 Address

    Use the default value.


    Server Port

    The default value is 8080. If port 8080 is in use, change it to another port number.


    Installation Directory

    Directory for installing eSight. The default value is /opt/eSight and cannot be manually modified.


  5. In the Database Parameters dialog box, set the database parameters and click Next.

    Administrator Password

    Password of the database administrator. The database administrator password Changeme123 is filled in automatically. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.


    NMS User Password

    The database NMS user password Changeme_123 is filled in automatically. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.


    Confirm NMS User Password

    Set the value of this parameter to the same as that of NMS User Password.


  6. In the Select Software Components To Be Installed dialog box, select the components to be installed and click Next.

    • The component function is controlled by the License. If no license is purchased, the corresponding function cannot be used after installation.
    • eSight components support incremental installation. If a component is not selected when eSight is installed, you can install the component when eSight is installed the second time. However, you need to ensure that the installation package version is the same as that of the running eSight.

  7. In the Summary dialog box, verify the entered installation information and click Next.

    If the installation information is incorrect, click Previous to reset the installation information.

  8. After eSight is installed, click Finish in the dialog box that is displayed.

    The installation takes about 15 minutes.
