Hardening the Oracle Database

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the Oracle database is started. For details, see How Do I Check the Startup of the Oracle Database.
  2. Log in to the operating system as the ossuser user.
  3. In the eSight installation directory, open /opt/eSight/mttools/tools/securityharden/Oracle.
  4. Run the Oracle.sh file to harden the database. The command output is as follows:

    Please input the host IP:

  5. Enter the IP address of the eSight database server to harden, and press Enter. The command output is as follows:

    Please input the Database Listener Port:

  6. Enter the listening port number 31521 of the database server and press Enter. The command output is as follows:

    Please input the Database Instance Name:

  7. Enter the database instance name esight and press Enter. The command output is as follows:

    Please input the Database User:

  8. Enter the database administrator user name system and press Enter. The command output is as follows:

    Please input the Password of [system]:

  9. Enter the database administrator password Changeme123 (default password) and press Enter. The command output is as follows:

    The system starts to harden the Oracle database.

    When security hardening is complete, information similar to the following is displayed:

    Finish harden Oracle Database.
    NOTE:

    When the database is shared by eSight and other software, users may need to access the database remotely; therefore, remote connection to the database is not disabled during the database hardening. This may result in security risks. You are advised to disable remote database connection as required.
