What Can I Do If the Following Message Is Displayed During eSight Installation: Database is running in ARCHIVELOG mode, there is a risk of disk space occupied, whether to continue the installation

Problem

When eSight is installed or upgraded, the information "Database is running in ARCHIVELOG mode, there is a risk of disk space occupied, whether to continue the installation?" is displayed after the Oracle database server parameter is set.

Solution

  • After the archiving mode is enabled for the Oracle database, related database logs may occupy a large amount of disk space or even use up the disk space if not deleted for a long time. As a result, eSight is unavailable. The information is used to notify users of the risk and does not affect the installation and upgrade of eSight.
  • Disable the archiving mode.
    1. Log in to the database server as the oracle user.
    2. Connect to the Oracle database as the sysdba role.

      sqlplus / as sysdba

    3. Shut down the database.

      shutdown immediate

    4. Start a database instance in MOUNT mode.

      startup mount

    5. Check the database log mode.

      archive log list

      Database log mode                  Archive Mode
      Automatic archival             Enabled
      ...

      If Automatic archival is set to Enabled, the archiving mode is enabled.

    6. Disable the archiving mode.

      alter database noarchivelog;

    7. Start the database.

      alter database open;

    8. Verify the current archiving mode.

      select log_mode from v$database;

      LOG_MODE
      ------------
      NOARCHIVELOG
    9. Run the exit command to exit the connection.
