What Do I Do if the Password of an Oracle Database Account Expires?

What Do I Do if the Password of an Oracle Database Account Expires?

Question

What do I do if the password of an Oracle database account expires?

Answer

  1. Set the expiration period of the Oracle account to never according to Changing the Database Password Validity Period.

    NOTE:

    Skip this step if you do not want to set the expiration period of the Oracle account to never.

    For the Veritas HA system, you need to perform the operation only on the active server.

  2. Log in to the eSight server as the root user and switch to the oracle user.

    # su - oracle

  3. Log in to the Oracle database as the sysdba user.

    > sqlplus / as sysdba

  4. Run the following SQL statements to obtain the SQL statement for changing the password:

    SQL> set linesize 300;

    SQL> set echo off;

    SQL> set feedback off;

    SQL> select 'ALTER USER '|| USERNAME || ' identified by values ''' || spare4 || ''';' from dba_users,user$ where ACCOUNT_STATUS like '%EXPIRED%' and USERNAME=NAME;

    ALTER USER ESIGHTIT identified by values 'S:7A05DD0F6A61A41DAA016557CE782A1409305F745FF41343B53ECC02E2A1';
    ALTER USER OMSCDC identified by values 'S:E1E2323D1F9BEDB6CF758F3314AF25C47EE6A84047DF9718DB1B65EB51B1';
    ALTER USER ENTETLDB identified by values 'S:10F5D5DFAD5BA1B471C59909F7DA1ABF8CA1D951AFAE13C143F6123AD01E';
    NOTE:

    ESIGHTIT, OMSCDC, and ENTETLDB are users whose passwords have expired. Change them based on the query result.

  5. Run the SQL statement obtained in 4 to change the password of an expired account to the current password.
