Verifying the Installation

After the eSight is installed, verify the installation.

Procedure

  1. Start the eSight service.

    1. Log in to the eSight server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to start the eSight service.

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./startup.sh

      When the status of every process is RUNNING and starting eSight system succeeded is displayed, the eSight service has been started.

  2. Optional: If the NTC is installed on a different host, start the NTC service.

    1. Log in to the NTC server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to start the NTC service.

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./startup.sh

      When the status of every process is RUNNING and starting eSight system succeeded is displayed, the NTC service has been started.

  3. Optional: If the WLAN location server is installed on a different host, start the WLAN location service.

    1. Log in to the WLAN location server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to start the WLAN location service.

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./startup.sh

      When the status of every process is RUNNING and starting eSight system succeeded is displayed, the WLAN location service has been started.

  4. Log in to the eSight tool from the client web browser and check whether the eSight version and functions are normal. .

    1. In the address box, enter https://eSight System IP address:31943, and press Enter.
      NOTE:
      • To set the client web browser, see eSight Operation Guide .
      • If the message "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." is displayed, see What Do I Do If the eSight Displays a Security Certificate Error During Login.
      • If the browser is not equipped with a flash player, download and install Adobe Flash Player provided by eSight. Otherwise, some pages cannot be displayed normally.
      • If you set the server IP address to localhost or 127.0.0.1 on the eSight server, the security certificate cannot be installed.
    2. If the certification authentication login is configured, the eSight home page is displayed automatically. Otherwise, you need to enter the user name admin and the default password Changeme123, and click Login.

      You must change the password when you log in to eSight for the first time. Keep the new password safe. If you forget the password of the admin user, you have to reinstall eSight to restore the default password.

    3. After login, click at the upper right corner, and verify that the current version is the target version.
    4. Optional: Check the NTC status.
      1. Choose Resource > Network > Network Traffic Analysis > Traffic Config from the main menu.
      2. Choose Basic Config > Collector from the navigation tree on the left.
      3. Check whether the NTC is in Normal status.

        NOTE:

        If the NTC is in Abnormal status, the possible causes are as follows:

        • The NTC service is not started. To start it, see Step 2.
        • The operating system firewall is enabled for the NTC.
        • The network between the NTC and the eSight server is abnormal.
        • The NTC is connected to the eSight server through the firewall on which ports 31902 and 31927 are unavailable.
        • The NTC and eSight server have different time or time zones. Ensure consistent time and time zones between the NTC and eSight server.

  5. Log in to the maintenance tool from the client browser.

    1. In the address box, enter https://eSight System IP address:31945, and press Enter.
    2. On the maintenance tool login page, enter the user name sys and the default password Changeme123 and click Login.
      NOTE:

      You must change the password when you log in to maintenance tool for the first time.

  6. Delete the installation package and temporary files from the server after the eSight is installed.

    > su - root

    # rm -rf /opt/install
