How Can I Process the SQL Server Running User Check Failure During Secondary Installation or Upgrade of eSight

Question

During the eSight environment detection, the message "The user of MSSQLSERVER is not NETWORKSERVICE" is displayed on eSight Console.

Answer

During installation, secondary installation, upgrade, startup, and environment health detection of eSight, whether the MSSQLSERVER running user is NETWORKSERVICE is checked. If the MSSQLSERVER running user is not NETWORKSERVIC, the backup and restore functions of eSight are unavailable.

To rectify this fault, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the eSight server.
  2. Check the SQL Server running user.
    1. Choose Start > Search and enter services in the search box. Then open Services in the search result.

    2. Find the record with Name set to SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and check whether the value in the Log On As column is Network Service. If no, perform the next step.

  3. Right-click SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.

  4. In the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) Properties (Local Computer) window and click the Log On tab. Then click This account and Browse.

  5. In the Select User window, enter Networkservice as the object name and click Check Names.

  6. When the corresponding object name is displayed, click OK.

  7. In the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) Properties (Local Computer) window, delete the values automatically set by the system for the Password and Confirm password parameters, and then click OK.

  8. In the Services window, click OK.

  9. In the Services (Local) window, select SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and click Restart the service.
