How Can I Handle the Problem that the Listening Is 0.0.0.0 for Port 22 of the Linux Operating System

Problem

When the listening status of the port is checked in the Linux security hardening environment, the system has the "0.0.0.0" listening port.

eSightServer145:/opt/eSight/mttools/etc/systool/southip # netstat -ntlp|grep 22
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 7376/sshd

Solution

In an HA system, perform the following operations on both the active and standby servers:

  1. Use PuTTY to log in to the server as the ossuser user and run the following command to switch to the root user:

    > su - root

  2. Modify the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file.

    # vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config

  3. Press i to enter the editing mode.
  4. Add the listening IP address to the file. You can configure multiple listening IP addresses based on the site requirements.

ListenAddress IP address 1 to be listened on
ListenAddress IP address 2 to be listened on

  5. Press Esc to exit the editing mode and run the :wq command to save and exit the file.
  6. After the file is configured, restart the sshd service for the configuration to take effect.

    # service sshd restart

  7. Verify the configuration result and check the port listening information.

    # netstat -ntlp|grep 22

If the port information is consistent with the configured information, the configuration is successful.
    tcp 0 0 172.28.12.206:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 13630/sshd
    tcp 0 0 192.168.123.206:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 13630/sshd
