(Optional) Configuring the Southbound IP Address

(Optional) Configuring the Southbound IP Address

If the network needs to be divided into the southbound network (where devices are located) and northbound network (where upper-layer NMS, 3rd Party and clients are located) or the southbound IP address is changed, you need to adapt the southbound IP address.

Prerequisites

  • eSight has been stopped. You can follow instructions in Stopping the eSight Service to manually stop eSight before configuration, or automatically start and stop eSight during configuration.
  • If a remote terminal is used for the installation, the remote terminal must provide a graphical user interface (GUI), and the SUSE Linux operating system must be configured to support remote GUI login. For details, see How to Use the VNC to Remotely Log In to SUSE Linux.

Context

  • The multi-subnet management function of eSight conflicts with the southbound and northbound service isolation function. If the southbound and northbound service isolation function is enabled, the multi-subnet management function cannot be enabled.
  • In the southbound and northbound isolation scenario, the web management function under Device Config > Web NMS is unavailable for network devices.
  • After the IP address of eSight is modified, the IP address of eSight must be modified accordingly on devices connecting to eSight.
  • Unified communications devices: CC solution, ECS, IAD, eSpace U2900, eSpace USM, VTC, SBC (SX Series).
  • Telepresence meeting devices: MCU.
  • After the IP address of eSight is modified, the IP address for Servers and the IP address for PON devices connecting to eSight to report alarms must be modified accordingly.
  • After the southbound and northbound service isolation is configured, the northbound network cannot directly access NEs in the southbound network. NEs are isolated from other network devices during network design, enhancing the protection for NEs and reducing the risks that NEs are attacked by other networks.
  • Currently, southbound and northbound service isolation is supported only for the centralized deployment and distributed deployment (network traffic collector and network positioning server).
  • When the network traffic collector and network positioning server are deployed in distributed mode, the southbound IP address needs to be used for installation and connection and the extension does not support the maintenance tool server management.
  • Currently, the infrastructure management component and application management component do not support southbound and northbound service isolation. If these components are installed, the southbound and northbound IP addresses cannot be configured.
  • The eLTE device management component manages industry terminals, base stations, and service engines. The multi-subnet function needs to be enabled. The southbound and northbound isolation scenario is not supported.
  • After configuring the southbound IP address, you need to modify SNMP parameters of the FusionSphere accordingly and send the parameter settings to the Openstack OM.
    • Set Alarm source address to OM Network Floating IP Address.
    • Select Synchronize SNMP Trap Settings to OpenStack OM.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the server as the ossuser user.
  2. Run the following command to start Southbound IP Config Tool:

    > cd /eSight installation directory/mttools/tools

    > ./southip.sh

The Southbound IP Config Tool dialog box is displayed.

  3. Configure the southbound IP address and click OK and select After modification or rollback, modify the eSight IP address on the device accordingly.
  4. Restart the eSight.

Follow-up Procedure

  • If the southbound IP address need to be modified, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to the server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following command to start Southbound IP Config Tool:

      > cd /eSight installation directory/mttools/tools

      > ./southip.sh

The Southbound IP Config Tool dialog box is displayed.

    3. Configure new Southbound IP and select After modification or rollback, modify the eSight IP address on the device accordingly on the Southbound IP Config Tool page and click OK.
    4. Restart the eSight.
  • If the southbound and northbound IP address configuration needs to be rolled back, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to the server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following command to start Southbound IP Config Tool:

      > cd /eSight installation directory/mttools/tools

      > ./southip.sh

The Southbound IP Config Tool dialog box is displayed.

    3. Click Roll Back and select After modification or rollback, modify the eSight IP address on the device accordingly on the Southbound IP Config Tool page.
    4. Restart the eSight.
