Installing eSight in Silent Mode (Single-Node System)


  1. Log in to the active eSight server as the root user.
  2. Run the following command to create the temporary directory /opt/install:

    # mkdir -p /opt/install

  3. Use FileZilla to upload the software package to the /opt/install directory as the root user. For details about how to use FileZilla, see How Do I Use FileZilla to Transfer Files.


    When installing eSight using the CD-ROM, you need to copy the software package to the installation directory in advance.

  4. Run the following commands on the CLI to decompress the installation package:

    # cd /opt/install

    # unzip

    In the command, is the eSight installation package.

  5. Run the following commands in the directory to which the installation packages are decompressed.

    # cd /opt/install/eSight

    # cd etc/config

    # vi

    #Installation language (Chinese:zh English:en) 
    #IP Address Type: 0--IPv4, 1--IPv6, 2--IP Dual-stack 
    #NMS IPV4 Address 
    #NMS IPV6 Address 
    #web server port 
    #The install path, installDir can not null and the path must be composed of characters or numbers or "-" or "_",

    • InstallLang: specifies the installation language. Set InstallLang to zh if you install a Chinese version. Set InstallLang to en if you install an English version. The language cannot be changed after the installation is complete. To use the other language, you must reinstall eSight.
    • IpType: specifies the IP address type of the eSight server. eSight supports IPv4 addresses, IPv6 addresses, and dual stack. Select an IP type based on your network planning.
    • HostIP: specifies an IPv4 address for a host. Set this parameter when IpType is set to IPv4 or IP Dual-stack.
    • HostIPV6: specifies an IPv6 address for a host. Set this parameter when IpType is set to IPv6 or IP Dual-stack.
    • WebServerPort: specifies the port number of the web server. The default value is 8080. If port 8080 is in use, change it to another port number.
    • InstallDir: specifies the installation directory. The default directory /opt/eSight is recommended. You can also set InstallDir to other directory. Do not install eSight in a system directory, such as /root or /etc.
    • Ensure that the eSight installation directory is empty. If not, eSight installation fails.
    • specifies the listening port of the Oracle database. The value is 31521. The port must be the same as the listening port set during Oracle database installation.
    • specifies the database instance. It must be the same as the instance name set during Oracle database installation.

  6. Run the silent installation script.

    # cd /opt/install/eSight
    # cd scripts/
    # chmod u+x
    # sh

    Enter the password of the database administrator system and press Enter.

  7. It takes about 10 minutes to complete the process. Please wait patiently. If the following information is displayed, eSight is installed successfully.
