Centralized Deployment

Centralized Deployment

In a centralized deployment scenario, the eSight Platform, service components, and collectors are deployed on the same server. This deployment mode applies to small-scale networks.

Installing the eSight Platform and Components

This section describes how to install the eSight platform and components on the SUSE Linux operating system.

Prerequisites
Context
  • During the installation, the system automatically detects whether the OpenSSH service is enabled. If it is disabled, the system forcibly enables the OpenSSH service.
  • When the installation is complete, the system automatically creates a common user for the operating system. The user name is ossuser and its default password is Changeme_123. To change the password, see Security Maintenance > Password Change in the Maintenance Guide.
  • After eSight is installed, the eSight service starts with the operating system.
The methods for setting the eSight startup mode are as follows:
    • Run the chkconfig eSightService off 2>/dev/null command as the root user to disable eSight automatic startup.
    • Run the chkconfig eSightService on 2>/dev/null command as the root user to enable eSight automatic startup.
  • eSight can be installed in two modes. Select one based on the requirements.
    • Graphical installation: If you need to install the eSight Platform and some service components on the GUI, see the description in Procedure.
    • Silent installation: If you need to install the eSight Platform and all service components that cannot be installed independently through commands, follow instructions in Installing eSight in Silent Mode (Single-Node System) to complete the installation.
      NOTE:

In the incremental installation scenario, the silent mode is not supported

Procedure
  1. Log in to the eSight server as the root user.
  2. Create a temporary directory, for example, /opt/install, on the eSight server to store installation files.

    # mkdir /opt/install

    • The eSight installation files must be stored in a local path.
    • The installation file directory and absolute path can contain only letters, digits, hyphens (-), tildes (~), underscores (_), and periods (.). Otherwise, the installation will fail.

  3. Upload the eSight installation package to /opt/install on the eSight server using the FileZilla tool.
  4. Run the following commands on the CLI to decompress the installation package:

    # cd /opt/install

    # unzip eSight_V300R009C00SPC200V300R010C00SPC300_SUSE.zip -d /opt/install/eSight

eSight_V300R009C00SPC200V300R010C00SPC300_SUSE.zip indicates the eSight installation package.

  5. Run the following commands to start the eSight installation program:

    # cd /opt/install/eSight

    # chmod u+x setup.sh

    # ./setup.sh

  6. Read the license agreement, select Read and Accept License Agreement, and click Install.

The system automatically checks whether the current environment meets requirements for installing the eSight software. If the current environment does not meet the requirements, a message will be displayed. Perform operations as prompted to ensure that all items meet the requirements and then install eSight again.

  7. In the Set Installation Parameters window, set installation parameters and click Next.

If the specified installation directory does not exist, the system displays a dialog box The directory xxx does not exist. Do you want to create it?. In this dialog box, click Yes.

    Table 5-42 Parameter description

    Parameter

    Configuration Requirement

    IP Address Type

Type of the eSight server IP address. eSight supports IPv4, IPv6, and IP dual-stack. Choose an IP address type based on the site requirements.

    Server IP Address

Set this parameter if IP Address Type is set to IPv4 or IP Dual-stack. If the server has multiple IP addresses, select an externally available system IP address of the eSight server from the drop-down list box by referring to IP Address Planning.

    Server IPv6 Address

Set this parameter if IP Address Type is set to IPv6 or IP Dual-stack. If the server has multiple IP addresses, select an externally available IP address from the drop-down list box by referring to IP Address Planning.

    Server Port

The default value is 8080. If port 8080 is in use, change it to another port number.

    Installation Directory

eSight installation path. You can manually change the path.

Use the installation path planned in Installation Path Planning.

  8. In the Database Parameters window, set database parameters and click Next.

    1. Set database parameters based on the Table 5-43.
      Table 5-43 Parameter description

      Parameter

      Configuration Requirement

      Database Server IP Address

      • If the Oracle database and eSight are installed on the same server, the value does not need to be changed.
      • If the Oracle database is installed independently, enter the IP address of the database server.

      Administrator Password

Enter the password of the database administrator by referring to User Name and Password Planning.

If the database administrator password does not meet complexity requirements, the installation stops. In this case, change the Oracle database administrator password. For details, see How Do I Change the Password of an Oracle Database User. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.

      Database Port

The default port number is 31521. If the database port number is different from the default port number, manually enter the database port number by referring to Database Planning.

      SID

The default instance name is esight. If the database instance name is different from the default instance name, manually enter the database instance name by referring to Database Planning.

      NMS User Password

The system sets this parameter to the NMS user password, which is Changeme_123 by default. After the installation is complete, you can use the maintenance tool to change the password.

      Confirm NMS User Password

The value must be the same as the value of NMS User Password.

      Data file directory

The default path for storing data files is /opt/eSightData. You can manually change the path.

    2. Click Try.

If the database is not connected, verify that: Database Server IP Address, Administrator Password, the database port number and instance name are correct.

    3. If try successfully, click next.

  9. In the Select Software Components To Be Installed window, select the components to be installed by referring to Table 3-2 and click Next.

    NOTE:
    • Component functions are controlled by licenses. If you do not purchase licenses, the functions will be unavailable after installation.
    • Dimmed components are mandatory components to be installed.
    • eSight components can be installed incrementally. If a component is not installed during eSight installation for the first time, it can be installed during a second eSight installation. In this case, the package version for incremental installation must be the same as the current eSight version.

  10. In the Summary window, check installation information.

    • If the installation information is correct, click Next.
    • If the installation information is incorrect, click Previous to reset installation information.

  11. The system starts to install eSight. After eSight is installed, the Installation Success dialog box is displayed. Click Finish.

    NOTE:
    • The installation takes about 15 minutes.
    • In the Installation Success dialog box, Start eSight Server is not selected by default. If you want to start the eSight server immediately, select Start eSight Server.

Follow-up Procedure
