What Can I Do When an Error Occurs in Security Hardening Using SetSuSE After an Upgrade or Secondary Installation

Question

When I use SetSuSE to harden eSight after the upgrade or secondary installation, an error occurs. How can I address this error?

Answer

  • The following error is displayed when SetSuSE is used to harden eSight.

This error is displayed because SetSuSE does not allow the number sign (#) in the encrypted user password in /etc/shadow.

When you change the user password, ensure that the encrypted user password in /etc/shadow does not contain the number sign (#).

  • The following error is displayed when SetSuSE is used to harden eSight.

This error is displayed because the Firefox browser is uninstalled when the MainAst is used to harden eSight before the upgrade or secondary installation. After the upgrade or secondary installation, SetSuSE cannot invoke the Firefox browser to display the hardening result.

This error does not affect the hardening result. You can check information displayed on the SetSuSE interface to verify hardening. In this example, Total Policies Success: 54 and Total Policies Failed: 0 indicate that hardening is successful.
