Setting Terminal Protocol Parameters

Setting Terminal Protocol Parameters

Set TR-069 parameters on terminals so that the terminals can properly connect to the eSight. When eSight manages IP phones in NAT mode, access scan is not supported. By default, eSight manages IP phones in non-NAT mode. If the eSpace 79 series IP phones with the version V100R001C02 or later or eSpace 8950 IP phones are used onsite, you can use the access scan function to connect them to the eSight without settings TR-069 parameters.

Prerequisites

  • Terminals are configured with correct IP addresses and have connected to the network.
  • The user name and password for logging in to the terminal web page has been obtained.

Context

  • Each terminal is configured with the eSight domain name ucems.huawei.com when it is delivered.
  • If a DNS server is available onsite, configure the mapping between the eSight domain name and its IP address on the DNS server to complete TR-069 parameter settings.
  • If a DHCP server is available onsite, set the DHCP Option246 field to batch deliver TR-069 parameters.
  • If neither DNS server nor DHCP server is available onsite, manually set TR-069 parameters on the web page or LCD screen of a terminal.
  • Default TR-069 parameter settings are not configured for terminals of some early versions. You can add these versions to the authentication-free list on the eSight. For details, see Configuring the Authentication Function.

Setting TR-069 Parameters on the DNS Server in Batches

If a DNS server has been deployed, add domain name ucems.huawei.com to the DNS server and map ucems.huawei.com to the eSight IP address. For details about how to add a DNS domain name, see "Setting Up the AD and DNS Servers" in the terminal administrator guide.

If you have added the domain name, right-click the domain name and choose Properties from the shortcut menu. In the window that is displayed, set the IP address of the domain name to the eSight IP address.

Delivering TR-069 Parameters by the DHCP Server in Batches

Terminal is able to resolve the value of acs.address carried in the DHCP Option 246 field to obtain the eSight IP address.

  • If the DHCP server installed on the Windows Server 2008 is used, set String value for the Option 246 field to acs.address=https://ACS IP address:Port number/tr069/services/acs, for example, acs.address=https://192.169.1.37:8444/tr069/services/acs. For details about the setting, see "Setting the Option246 Parameter" in the terminal administrator guide.
  • If a switch is used as the DHCP server, set the DHCP servers's Option 246 field to acs.address=https://ACS IP address:Port number/tr069/services/acs, for example, acs.address=https://192.169.1.37:8444/tr069/services/acs.

Setting TR-069 Parameters on the Web Page of a Terminal

The following uses eSpace 7910 IP phone as an example to describe how to set TR-069 parameters on the web page of the terminal. For details about how to set TR-069 parameters of other models of terminals see the related product documents.

    Description

    How to Set

    ACS URL

    Indicates the TR-069 service URL on the eSight.

    • You are advised to use the HTTPS protocol for higher security requirements. Enter https://IP address of the eSight server:8444/tr069/services/acs.
    • In the case of lower security requirements, enter http://IP address of the eSight server:8089/tr069/services/acs.

    To use the HTTP protocol, you must manually modify the related files in the eSight installation directory. For details, see Configuring HTTP Access Parameters.

    The default value is the address of the eSight server, that is, https://ucems.huawei.com:8444/tr069/services/acs.

    ACS Username

    Indicates the user name that the eSight uses to authenticate terminals. Set this parameter to the authentication user name that is set in the eSight configuration file.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    ACS Password

    Indicates the password that the eSight uses to authenticate terminals. Set this parameter to the authentication password that is set in the eSight configuration file.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    The password must meet the following requirements:

    • The password contains at least 6 characters.
    • The password contains at least two types of the following characters:
      • At least one lowercase letter
      • At least one uppercase letter
      • At least one digit
      • The password contains at least one space or one of the following special characters: `~!@#$%^&*()-_=+\|[{}];:'",<.>/?
    • The password cannot be the user name.

    CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Username

    Indicates the user name that the terminal uses to authenticate the eSight. When adding a terminal on the eSight, ensure that the user password is the same as the value of this parameter.

Configuring the User Name and Password Used by Terminals to Communicate with the eSight

The default ACS Username and ACS Password have been configured on the eSight for terminals to communicate with the eSight. For detailed, see TR069 authentication user of the Maintenance Guide > Security Maintenance > Password Change > Password Change Overview > eSight System Users section in the eSight documentation.

Check the ACS Username and ACS Password configured for onsite terminals:

  • If the value of the ACS Username and ACS Password have been configured on the eSight, you do not need to perform the following operations.
  • If the the ACS Username and ACS Password have not been configured on the eSight , you need to configure the ACS user information so that the eSight can manage the terminals properly. In this case, you do not need to manually change the ACS Username and ACS Password for each onsite terminal.

The operations on the SUSE Linux operating system and Windows are similar. The SUSE Linux is taken as an example.

  1. Obtain the user name and password used by terminals to communicate with the eSight.

    The user name configured on terminals to communicate with the eSight is the value of the TR069 parameter ACS Username. The password is the value of the TR069 parameter ACS Password.

  2. Log in to the web UI of eSight.
  3. Choose Resource > Collaboration > Collaboration Management > Terminal Device Management from the main menu.
  4. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > System Configuration.
  5. In the Terminal Account Management area, click Add.
  6. In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the user name and password configured on the terminal device for communicating with eSight.
  7. Click OK.

Configuring HTTP Access Parameters

HTTP has security risks. Exercise caution when you use it.

To use the HTTP protocol, you must manually modify the related files in the eSight installation directory.

  • Modify the supportHttp=false item in the ems_config_readWriter.properties file in the AppBase\etc\uc\ directory under the eSight installation directory to supportHttp=true.
  • In the webserver.roa.inst.xml file in the /opt/eSight/AppBase/etc/iemp.framework/ directory, add the eSight IP address and port number.

    In <webserver name="ipphone"></webserver>, add the following content. Replace @{ENT_HOSTIP} with the eSight IP address, such as 10.10.134.120.

    <connector name="FileServerHttpPort" type="http">
    <property name="ip" value="@{ENT_HOSTIP}" />
    <property name="port" value="38081" />
    </connector>

    In <webserver name="tr069"></webserver>, add the following content. Replace @{ENT_HOSTIP} with the eSight IP address, such as 10.10.134.120.
