Precautions

Precautions

License Support

Basic functions and features are not controlled by licenses.

Component Dependency

The configuration file management depends on the Network Device Management Component.

Protocol Support

SNMP, SFTP/FTP/TFTP, and STelnet/Telnet are required.

Device Support

Most Huawei devices are supported. For details, see the Specification List.

Version Support

For details, see the Specification List.

Application Scenario

Configuration files need to be backed up and restored.

Feature Limitation and Dependency

  • Execute the configuration task.
    • To back up and restore the configuration file of a device through SFTP, enable the SSH client on the device. For example, for the Huawei S9312, run the ssh client first-time enable command on it to start the SSH client first.
    • It is time-consuming to provision a large amount of device configuration data. Therefore, execute the provisioning task during off-peak hours to avoid affecting network services.
    • Network configuration adjustment may cause network interruption and must be performed during off-peak hours to avoid affecting network services.
  • If a short automatic backup interval is specified for a device, eSight will be frequently back up the device's configuration file, compromising the performance of eSight. In this case, you are advised to extend the automatic backup interval for the device.
  • When eSight restores the configuration file for a device, the device globally executes the configuration file and overwrites all the original data. This may affect services of the live-network core switch. Before executing the restoration task, check the device configuration, evaluate the service risks, apply for sufficient task time, and obtain the customer's acknowledgement in written form.
  • After confirming that a backup configuration file is correct, users can specify the backup configuration file as a baseline configuration file for restoring device configuration files in batches upon device failure. eSight does not specify a default baseline file. You need to manually specify a baseline file. Each device can have only one baseline file. The baseline file cannot be deleted unless another configuration file is specified as a baseline file. It is risky to restore the configuration file to the baseline file. Ensure that the baseline configuration file meets the service requirements on the live network.
