Transmission Channel Management

Transmission Channel Management

Configuring the Communication Security Between Devices and the eSight Infrastructure Manager.

Setting In-band Transmission Parameters

This section describes how to set the in-band transmission parameters of a site. The eSight Infrastructure Manager supports both in-band and out-of-band data transmission modes. If the in-band transmission mode is used, you need to set in-band transmission parameters before creating a site.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use Modify Infrastructure Right.
The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Data Center Planning
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Transmission Channel Management
  • Information about the base station type (GSM, UMTS or LTE) and its IP address at the site is available.
  • You have the operation rights for Transmission Channel Management.

Context

In-band transmission: Energy and environment data of a site is transmitted to the eSight Infrastructure Manager through the operation and maintenance (OM) channels of Huawei GBTSs or NodeBs/eNodeBs. The eSight Infrastructure Manager centrally manages the energy and environment devices based on the data. The GBTSs must be in GBSS12.0 or later versions and NodeBs must be in RAN13.0 or later versions.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Transmission Channel Management from the main menu. The Transmission Channel Management window is displayed.
  2. Click the Wireless Device Transparent Channel Settings tab in the displayed Transmission Channel Management window.
  3. Add an in-band transmission channel by referring to Figure 21-87 on the Wireless Device Transparent Channel Settings tab page. For details about related parameters, see Table 21-55.

Figure 21-87 Add an in-band transmission channel

If the site and eSight Infrastructure Manager can be properly connected after the in-band channel is created, the channel status icon is . Otherwise, the channel status icon is .

    Table 21-55 Parameter description

    Parameter

    Description

    Channel Name

Name of a channel. You can set it as required.

    Channel IP

IP address of a BSC or NodeB/eNodeB at a GSM or UMTS/LTE site, which is provided by operators.

    Channel Type

Channel type. For a GSM site, the value is BSC. For a UMTS/LTE site, the value is NodeB/eNodeB.

    Connection Type

Mode in which you connect a BSC or NodeB/eNodeB at a GSM or UMTS/LTE site to the eSight Infrastructure Manager. This parameter can be set to SSL or NORMAL.
