Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) improves the efficiency in device deployment, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting, and reduces labor costs.

Typical Scenario

Devices such as switches or routers need to be deployed on the live network. After the device plan is complete, the network administrator does not need to commission software of devices onsite. After unconfigured devices are powered on, they can automatically connect to specified management devices and load system files including the configuration file, system software package, and patch file. ZTP implements fast device deployment.

Function Overview

  • Topology plan deployment: provides capabilities including topology drawing, device file matching, topology plan error correction, and file delivery to deploy unconfigured devices.
  • Device identifier deployment: deploys unconfigured devices based on MAC addresses or ESNs by performing operations including device creation, file matching, deployment, and activation.
  • SMS message deployment: deploys unconfigured devices based on SMS messages by performing operations including device creation, deployment file matching, and SMS message sending.
  • Replacement of faulty devices: supports replacement of faulty devices based on the configuration file of faulty devices or ZTP template.


During ZTP deployment, the interaction process between eSight and the device is as follows:

  1. After the unconfigured device is powered on, it sends a request to the DHCP server to obtain eSight information.
  2. eSight communicates with the device, and the file server of eSight delivers files to the device.
  3. After the files are loaded and activated on the device, the deployment is complete.
