Energy Analyse

Energy Analyse

This section describes how to query the current status, historical data, and tariff statistics.

Viewing Current Energy

This section describes how to view the current power usage effectiveness (PUE), data center infrastructure efficiency (DCiE), PUE trend graph, power consumption of management domains, and the power consumption chart of subsystems.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have created a device in the Data Center Planning window and have configured PUE counters by following the instructions provided in Configuring PUE Counters.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Energy Management > Energy Analysis from the main menu. The Energy Analysis window is displayed.
  2. View current energy.
    • View the power consumption of each management domain.

In the left navigation tree, choose Root, you can view the power consumption of each domain in the right page.

    • View the PUE, DCiE and power consumption of each sub management domain.
In the left navigation tree, choose the target managed domain under the Root, you can view the PUE value, DCiE value, PUE line chart, DCiE line chart, power consumption column chart of the sub management domain, power consumption line chart of the subsystem, as shown in Figure 21-53.
      NOTE:
      • When the enabled PUE setting on the ECC800 is synchronized to the eSight Infrastructure Manager for the first time, the PUE value of the first full hour is displayed properly. Because no historical data exists in the ECC800, no data is displayed in the ring-shaped electricity proportion chart in the upper right area of the Figure 21-53.
      • The following describes the energy efficiency data of the first full hour after the ECC800 reconnects to the eSight Infrastructure Manager:
        • The PUE value is the same as that on the ECC800.
        • Total electricity = Total electricity of the first full hour after reconnection – Total electricity during disconnection
        • Increment in the total electricity = IT electricity of the first full hour after reconnection – IT electricity during disconnection
      • In the upper left corner of the current page, click to search for devices by management domain or device name.
      • In the upper left corner of the current page, click . In the displayed Hide Domain dialog box, select management domains and click OK not to display the selected management domains. Alternatively, you can deselect management domains to display them.
      • PUE: indicates the power usage effectiveness of the management domain. It can be calculated by using the following formula: PUE = The incremental total power consumption in a managed domain/The incremental power consumption of the IT devices in the managed domain.
      • DCiE: indicates the data center infrastructure efficiency. It can be calculated by using the following formula: DCiE = The incremental power consumption of the IT devices/The incremental total power consumption of a management domain.
      • PUE line chart: displays the PUE fluctuation of the latest day.
      • DCiE line chart: displays the DCiE fluctuation of the latest day.
      • Power consumption column chart of the sub management domain: displays the power consumption of the sub managed domain (Such as buildings, equipment rooms or modulars).
      • Power consumption column chart of the subsystem: displays the power consumption of the subsystem during the latest day.

Viewing Historical Energy

This section describes how to query historical energy based on the collection type, time and statistical type.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Energy Management > Energy Analysis from the main menu. The Energy Analysis window is displayed.
  2. In the navigation tree, select a manage field. Click Historical Energy tab page, the Historical Energy page is displayed.

    NOTE:

If the target management domain does not have the power supply and distribution design, No PUE are configured in this management domain message is displayed, you can click click here to enter the configuration page of power distribution.

  3. Specify query criteria by referring the following table.

    Parameter Description
Collection type Collection period. Including Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual.
    Time
    • If Collection type is specified as Hourly: the largest range of the value can be 48 hours.
    • If Collection type is specified as Daily: the largest range of the value can be 31 days.
    • If Collection type is specified as Weekly: the largest range of the value can be 90 days.
    • If Collection type is specified as Monthly: the largest range of the value can be 12 months.
    • If Collection type is specified as Quarterly: the largest range of the value can be 8 quarters.
    • If Collection type is specified as Annual: the largest range of the value can be 10 years.
Statistic type Supports the multi election.
    • Power consumption: Power consumption
    • Tariff: the unit price of power.
    • PUE: Power Usage Effectiveness. PUE = Total power consumption in a managed domain/Total power consumption of all IT devices in the managed domain.
    • DCiE: Data Center infrastructure Efficiency. DCiE = Total power consumption of all IT devices in a managed domain/Total power consumption in the managed domain.

  4. Click Query, the historical data will be displayed in the graph. Shown as figure below.
