Battery Management

This section describes how to centrally manage batteries. The Battery Management function option is not displayed in the main menu by default. To display it in the main menu, you need to enable the function in the eSight Infrastructure Management Maintenance Tool. For details, see Configuring eSight Infrastructure Manager Menu Options in the eSight Product Documentation.

Checking Battery SOH

This section describes how to view the group information, voltage, internal resistance, and temperature information of all the batteries after the grouping.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have performed the operation in Creating a Battery Group.
  • The ECC800 has been properly connected.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Health Management > Battery Managerment from the main menu. The Battery Managerment window is displayed.
  2. In the Battery Management window, click SOH.
  3. In the SOH window, data that can be viewed and the corresponding operations vary depending on the CIM and UPS creation methods. For details, see Table 21-36.

    NOTE:

    For detailed operations about how to check the battery SOH if the CIM2.0 is added manually, see Figure 21-64.

    Manually add a CIM in the Data Center Planning window.

    You can check the use status information of battery groups and batteries in each group. The information includes Group Info, Voltage, Resistance, and Temperature.

    • Click the Group Info tab. On the displayed tab page, check CIM Name, Battery Name, Temperature, Voltage, and Resistance.
    • Click the Voltage, Resistance, or Temperature tab to check the capacity of batteries in a bar chart.
      NOTE:

      If CIM2.0 is added, you can click the preceding tabs to check the alarm status, severities of a battery through alarm color rendering, SOH and SOC.

    For detailed operations, see Figure 21-63.
    Synchronize the CIM to the eSight Infrastructure Manager by adding a UPS or ECC800 in the Data Center Planning window.
    NOTE:
    UPSs of the following types allow you to synchronize a CIM to the eSight Infrastructure Manager:
    • UPS_HUAWEI_UPS5000E_V1R3C00C01_MODBUSTCP

    • UPS_HUAWEI_UPS2000G_V1R1C38_MODBUSTCP

    • UPS_HUAWEI_UPS5000E_V1R1C39_MODBUSTCP

    • UPS_HUAWEI_UPS5000E_V3R1C00_MODBUSTCP
    You can check the use status information of battery groups and batteries in each group. The information includes Group Info, Voltage, Resistance, Temperature, Current, SOH, and SOC. You can also check the device list information and change the battery group names.
    • Click the Group Info tab. On the displayed tab page, check CIM Name, Battery Name, Temperature, Voltage, Resistance, Current, SOH, and SOC.
    • Click the Voltage, Resistance, Temperature, Current, SOH, or SOC tab to check the capacity and SOH of batteries.
      NOTE:

      If CIM2.0 is added, you can click the preceding tabs to check the alarm status and severities of a battery through alarm color rendering.

Querying Historical Data

This section describes how to check historical data of battery groups and batteries in each group.

  • You have performed the operation in Creating a Battery Group.
  • The ECC800 has been properly connected.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Health Management > Battery Managerment from the main menu. The Battery Managerment window is displayed.
  2. In the Battery Management window, click History Data.
  3. In the History Data window, data that can be viewed and the corresponding operations vary depending on the CIM and UPS creation methods. For details, see Table 21-37.

    NOTE:

    For detailed operations about how to check the battery SOH if the CIM2.0 is added manually, see Figure 21-66.

    • You can check historical data of batteries. The data includes Single Battery Info, Voltage, Resistance, Temperature, Current, SOH, and SOC.
      • Click the Single Battery Info tab. On the displayed tab page, check CIM Name, Battery Name, Collected Date, Temperature, Voltage, Resistance, Current, SOH, and SOC.
      • Click the Voltage, Resistance, Temperature, Current, SOH, or SOC tab to check Voltage Chart, Resistance Chart, Temperature Chart, Current, SOH, or SOC of batteries.
    For detailed operations, see Figure 21-66.

    The data query time can be set to Today, Last Ttree Days, Last Seven Days, or Customize.

    A maximum of 30 days can be set for Customize.

    NOTE:

    To check voltage Chart, resistance Chart or temperature Chart of a battery, use either of the following two methods:

    In ECC800-based synchronization mode, you can also check current, SOH, or SOC of batteries.

    • In the lower part of the current view, click the name of the battery whose information does not need to be checked. The data curve of the battery disappears in the view. Click the name again. The curve is displayed.
    • Click in the upper right corner of the current view. The Please select single battery box is displayed. Select the batteries whose information you want to check and click Confirm.

Follow-up Procedure

In the History Data window, perform the following operations as required.

Querying the Battery Discharge Curve

This section describes how to check the battery discharge curve to learn the discharge status of batteries in a specific period.

  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have created a UPS or a CIM2.0 in the Data Center Planning window.

  • The discharge operation has been performed on the device.

Context

Only the CIM2.0 allows users to query the battery discharge curve. The CIM can be created through the devices listed in Table 21-38 manually or in automatic synchronization mode.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Health Management > Battery Managerment from the main menu. The Battery Managerment window is displayed.
  2. In the Battery Management window, click Discharge Curve Line to switch to the Discharge Curve Line window.
  3. In the Discharge Curve Line window, query the discharge status of a battery in a specific period. For detailed operations, see Figure 21-67.

    NOTE:

    The data query time can be set to Today, Last Ttree Days, Last Seven Days, or Customize.

    A maximum of 90 days can be set for Customize.

    NOTE:

    You can use either of the following two methods to check the discharge curve of a battery:

    • In the lower part of the current view, click the name of the battery whose information does not need to be checked. The data curve of the battery disappears in the view. Click the name again. The curve is displayed.
    • Click in the upper right corner of the current view. The Please select single battery box is displayed. Select the batteries whose information you want to check and click Confirm. A maximum of five batteries can be selected at a time.

Follow-up Procedure

In the Discharge Curve Line window, perform the following operations as required.

Creating a Battery Group

This section describes how to create a group for multiple batteries in the same UPS, thereby managing these batteries in a centralized manner.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have created a modular or a container in the Data Center Planning window.

  • You have added rack and UPS to the cabinet.

  • UPS in the Setting UPS area must be bound with the corresponding UPS device when you create a battery detector.

Context

The battery group applies to the following batteries:

  • If CIM1.0 is added to Data Center Planning, the following batteries can be manually grouped.
    • Batteries in the same UPS in a cabinet
    • Batteries of the battery detector bound with the UPS
  • If CIM2.0 is added to Data Center Planning, batteries are automatically grouped. Users do not need to group batteries.

If battery groups are changed on the WebUI of UPS2000G or UPS5000E is bound with the CIM2.0, delete the corresponding UPS and re-create it on the Data Center Planning page of the eSight Infrastructure Manager.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Business > Health Management > Battery Managerment from the main menu. The Battery Managerment window is displayed.
  2. In the navigation tree of the Battery Management window, choose Battery Group.
  3. Click Create Group, The Create Group window is displayed.
  4. In the Create Group window, set Basic Setting and Select Management Domain of the battery group.

    Basic Setting includes Name and Description, where Name is mandatory.

    NOTE:

    The management domain field is mandatory.

    • The management domain you have selected must be the UPS.
    • You can select only one management domain at a time.

  5. Click Next. The Group Battery window is displayed.
  6. In the Group Battery window, select the batteries to be grouped.

    NOTE:
    You can select batteries under all the battery detector for grouping.

  7. The Acknowledgment Result dialog box is displayed. Click Save. The group is created.

    Click Cancel to go back to the last step in the Create Group dialog box.

Follow-up Procedure

You can perform the following operations in the Battery Group window:

In the Operation column, click . In the displayed Confirm dialog box, click Yes.
