Adding a Single VCM

Adding a Single VCM

You can add VCM (Video Content Management) or CloudVCM, on the eSight one by one.

Prerequisite

VCM or CloudVCM protocol parameters have been set. For the detailed operation procedure, see the related document of the VCM or CloudVCM.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Common from the main menu. In the navigation tree on the left, select Add Resource > Add Resource.

  2. Click Intelligent Video Surveillance > VCM or Intelligent Video Surveillance > CloudVCM.
  3. Set VCM or CloudVCM parameters according to Table 15-3.

    Basic Information

    Name

    Name of the device.

    N/A

    Access type

    Type of VCM to be accessed.

    • SOFT: Applies to cloud VCM and box VCM.
    • HARDWARE: Applies to traditional VCM.
      NOTE:

      For CloudVCM, you do not need to set this parameter.

    SNMP

    IP address

    IP address of the VCM server.

    N/A

    Port

    Port that the VCM uses to receive requests from the eSight.

    The default value is 161.

    Set this parameter to the value of Port that is set on the VCM.

    Security name

    User security name.

    Set this parameter to the value of Security name that is set on the VCM.

    Context name

    Name of the subset for the managed objects.

    Set this parameter to the value of Context name that is set on the VCM.

    Authentication protocol

    Algorithm that the VCM uses to authenticate the eSight.

    Set this parameter to the value of Authentication protocol that is set on the VCM.

    The default value is HMAC_SHA.

    Authentication key

    Password that the VCM uses to authenticate the eSight.

    Set this parameter to the value of Authentication key that is set on the VCM.

    Privacy protocol

    Algorithm used for data encryption during the communication between the eSight and the VCM.

    Set this parameter to the value of Privacy protocol that is set on the VCM.

    The default value is AES_128.

    Privacy key

    Password that the eSight uses to parse the encrypted data when communicating with the VCM.

    Set this parameter to the value of Privacy key that is set on the VCM.

    Time-out period (s):

    Timeout period, within which the device must respond to the message sent by the eSight. If the device does not respond within the timeout period, the eSight considers that the device does not exist.

    The default value is 30.

  4. Click OK.

    NOTE:

    To create more devices, click Apply.

    • If the device has been created successfully, the AddMO Success dialog box is displayed. Click OK in the dialog box.
    • If the device fails to be created, the Error dialog box is displayed, showing the failure cause. Click OK in the dialog box and set device parameters again.

Operation Result

  1. Choose Resource > Intelligent Video Surveillance from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree, choose Resource Management > Monitoring Platform.

    If you can find the new devices in the management object list, the devices are added successfully.
