BAS Management

Overview of the BAS

This section describes the basic functions of the Building Automation System (BAS).

Context

The Building System function option is not displayed in the main menu by default. To display it in the main menu, you need to enable the function in the eSight Infrastructure Management Maintenance Tool. For details, see Configuring eSight Infrastructure Manager Menu Options in the eSight Product Documentation.

Function Description

According to the BAS-related logical topology design for the project, obtain data, such as the status, alarms, and properties, related to objects and counters included in the design based on specified relationships to manage the BAS.

Button Description Function
Zoom In Used for zooming in the view.
Zoom Out Used for zooming out the view.
Zoom Reset Used for restoring the view.
Auto Fit Zoom Used for automatically adjusting the view to a proper size based on the screen size. The size ratio of objects in the view may be changed. However, the coordinates and shapes of the objects remain unchanged.
Export Image Used for exporting the view for the current management domain as an image to a PC.
Set Background Used for specifying a background for the view.
Save Used for saving the result of the current operation.
Export XML File Used for exporting a BAS system design.
Import XML File Used for importing a BAS system design.
Query View Used for switching the view to an editable state.

Creating a BAS

This section describes how to create a Building Automation System (BAS).

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have added the BAS in Data Center Planning.
  • You have obtained the drawings of the building drainage or venting system.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor > Topo > Building System from the main menu. The Building System window is displayed.
  2. Click Root and select Create under .
  3. In the displayed Create Management Domain dialog box, type the name of the management domain and click OK.
  4. Select the new management domain. The toolbar becomes visible.

    NOTE:
    In the navigation tree on the left, you can click the management domain to perform the following operations:
    • Select Create under . In the displayed Create Management Domain dialog box, type the name of the management domain and click OK.
    • Select Delete under . In the displayed deletion dialog box, click Yes to delete the management domain.
    • Select Update under . In the displayed Update Management Domain dialog box, change the name of the management domain and click OK.

  5. Click on the toolbar.

    The edit area in the middle of the page becomes editable.

  6. Design the view of the drainage or venting system according to the system drawings.
    1. According to the drawings of the drainage or venting system, drag the controls under Fresh air device, Water supply device, or Others device to the design area.



    2. In the design area, select the device to be monitored and bind the corresponding counters and alarms in Properties. For detailed about how to bind devices, see Table 21-20.

      Parameter

      Description

      Control name

      Indicates the name of the device.

      Measurement object

      Indicates the device to be measured. You can select BAS devices among all management domains.

      A measurement object is delivered with some counters. You can configure these counters in the monitoring template of the performance module. For details, see Template Configuration.

      Counters bound to the controls are those of measurement objects. You can select a counter and then move the cursor to a device to check the value of this counter for the device.

      NOTE:

      Click . In the displayed Select Data dialog box, select a measurement object in the left area and measurement counters in the right area, and then click OK.

      You can bind a maximum of 15 measurement counters to a measurement object.

      Measurement counter

      Bound alarm

      Indicates alarms bound to a cooling device. You can check the real-time alarms of the measurement object corresponding to the device.
      NOTE:

      You can bind alarms to a measurement object only after you bind measurement counters to the measurement object. When an alarm with the highest severity is generated in the bound alarm counter, the icon is displayed in the color of the corresponding alarm.

      Click . In the displayed Select Data dialog box, select alarms you want to bind, and click OK.

      You can bind a maximum of 20 alarms to a measurement object.

      Operating State

      You can bind a counter in the operating state to monitor the running or stopped state of controls.

      NOTE:

      Click . The Select Data dialog box is displayed. Select the operating status counter to be bound and click OK.

      Run State and Stop State can be set to Operating or Stop.

      You can bind only one counter.

      Hand atuo

      You can bind a counter in the Hand atuo state to control the state (manual or automatic) of a control.

      NOTE:

      Click . The Select Data dialog box is displayed. Select the counter in the Hand atuo state to be bound and click OK.

      Manual State and Automatic State can be set to Manually or Automatic.

      You can bind only one counter.

      Start-stop control

      You can bind a counter in the Start-stop control state to monitor the started or stopped state of controls.

      NOTE:

      Click . The Select Data dialog box is displayed. Select the counter in the Start-stop control state to be bound and click OK.

      Start State and Stop State can be set to Run or Stop.

      You can bind only one counter.

      Location

      The values of X and Y ranges from 0 to 5000.

      Display name

      Select Display name. The control name is displayed under the control.

      After selecting Display name, you can set Border, Font, Text background, Transparency, and Offset of the control name.

      Rotation angle You can rotate a control by 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

    3. Drag controls under Aidtool into the edit area.

      The text control is used for entering text descriptions. In the Properties area, you can set properties, such as Text style, Font and Text background, for the text control.

      Navigation Control

      Used for showing the direction.

      Counter group

      Used for binding device counters in the management domain to the counter control table for display. You can bind a maximum of 15 counters.

      Method: Select the counter control in the design area and click in the Properties area. In the displayed Select Data dialog box, select the counters to be measured and click OK.

      Measurement counter

      Used for binding device counters in the management domain and displaying them in the unit of one counter control. You can bind only one counter.

      Method: Select the measurement counter control in the design area and click in the Properties area. In the displayed Select Data dialog box, select the counter to be measured and click OK.

      Power Bus

      Select the pipeline. In the Properties column on the right, select Line width and Color of the pipeline.

      To place a power bus vertically, you need to perform the following operations:
      1. Move the cursor to one end of the power bus.
      2. When the cursor turns cross-shaped, hold down the left mouse button to drag the end towards the other end of the power bus until the power bus becomes a point.
      3. Continue holding down the left mouse button, and then drag the point upwards or downwards.

    4. Repeat 6.b through 6.c to complete the view design.

      NOTE:

      To delete a control from the edit area, you need to click the control, click , and then choose Delete.

      To delete multiple controls in batches from the edit area, you need to hold down the left mouse button to select the controls at a time, click , and then choose Delete.

    5. Click on the toolbar.

      NOTE:
      After the device is saved, you can view device details using either of the following methods:
      • In the design area, click the device and select Information display under .
      • In the navigation tree on the left, click the device to enter the device details page.
      You can view the following information:
      • Basic device signal

        If the device is not bound with the signal, the status is displayed as Unknown.

        • Operating status: running, stopped, and unknown
        • Fault alarm: normal, faulty, and unknown
        • Hand atuo: manual, automatic, and unknown
        • Start-stop control: started, stopped, and unknown
      • Detailed counter information

        If the device is not bound with the measurement counter, the device details page does not display the counter information of the device.

      On the device details page, click on the toolbar. Tools are displayed in the lower-left corner. You can design the device by referring to Table 21-21.

    6. Click on the toolbar to lock the view.

    The following figure shows the automatic venting system design for a building.

Follow-up Procedure

The view supports the export function in a viewing state, and supports the import and export functions in an editable state.

Export data
  1. Click on the toolbar.
  2. In the displayed dialog box, specify a save path and click Save.
Import data
  1. Click on the toolbar.
  2. In the displayed dialog box, select the power distribution system file in XML format you want to import, and click OK.
  3. Modify the properties of controls.
  4. Click on the toolbar.
