This topic illustrates how to manage resources, helping you understand the basic flow and operations of resource management.


Due to service expansion, the network management administrator of a company, Frank, needs to add a set of devices to eSight so that he can manage these devices on eSight.

Before adding the devices, Frank draws an operation flowchart, as shown in Figure 4-3.

  1. Create subnet A.

    1. Choose Resource > Common from the main menu.
    2. Choose Resources Group > Subnet in the navigation area on the left.
    3. Set Subnet name and Description, choose Parent object, on the Default Subnet page.
    4. Click OK.

  2. Create NE B using the NE automatic discovery function.

    1. Choose Resource > Common from the main menu.
    2. Choose Add Resource > Auto Discovery in the navigation area on the left.
    3. Set parameters.
    4. Select Add the discovered objects automatically to the NMS.
    5. Click Discovery.

      The discovered NEs are displayed in the list.


    You can click Stop Discovery to stop the discover operation.

  3. Modify information about NE B.

    1. Click NE B on the Device page.
    2. Click.
    3. Change the name of NE B.
    4. Click OK.
