Introduction to the LDAP Authentication

Introduction to the LDAP Authentication

eSight provides a security module for authenticating the user name and password, and manages users and roles. In addition, eSight provides the capability of performing authentication based on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

In the full spelling of LDAP, the directory refers to a professional distributed database optimized for the browse and search functions, and organizes data in a tree structure. The directory service is a system consisting of a directory database and an access protocol.

In the LDAP-based authentication mode, eSight only needs to manage roles and assign role permissions rather than managing users. The LDAP server manages users, and authenticates user names and passwords used for eSight login.
