Configuring Local System Settings

Before the eSight connects to a third-party system using the northbound interface, the local information of the eSight must be set first.

  1. Choose System > System Settings > Northbound Integration from the main menu.
  2. Choose Local System Settings from the navigation tree.
  3. In the Global Parameters area, set System ID, System name, and IP address of the local system.
    • System ID: indicates the ID of the system, which uniquely identifies the local system.
    • You are advised to set IP address to the local IP address. If the system IP address is 127.0.0.*, the third-party system can access the system only through the system server.
    • If the operating system has multiple IP addresses, configure the parameter to the IP address that can communicate to a third-party system physically. In the remote HA system, the IP address of the local system cannot be automatically switched after an active/standby switchover.
  4. In the SNMP Interface area, set Service port and SNMP EngineID.

    When eSight interconnects with a third-party system using the northbound interface through SNMP, the SNMP EngineID parameter must be set for a two-node cluster. It is recommended that the floating IP address be used as the EngineID to ensure that the EngineID is the same after an active/standby switchover. If this parameter is not set for a two-node cluster, message reporting may fail after an active/standby switchover. This parameter does not need to be set for a single-node system.

  5. In the FTP Interface area, select Data transmission protocol and Multiplex southbound FTP server. By default, Multiplex southbound FTP server is selected. After you deselect it, you can select Data transmission protocol.
    • By default, Multiplex southbound FTP server is selected. In this case, the southbound FTP server is used to connect to the third-party system. To customize a port for connecting to the third-party system, you need to deselect Multiplex southbound FTP server and set Service port. Do not set this port to a port that has been used. In the Northbound FTP server status area, you can also view the status of the FTP server port in use.
    • The FTP protocol is risky. SFTP is recommended.
    • In the southbound and northbound isolation scenario, the southbound FTP service cannot be reused when the third-party system interconnects with the northbound FTP service. In this case, you need to enable the northbound FTP server and set Service port to the actual port number used by the northbound FTP service.
    • If the user (only one user) registered with the southbound FTP server is deleted or modified, the Home directory of the northbound storage will be deleted, and the northbound data in a period will be lost.
    • After the switchover between southbound and northbound servers, the created FTP user will expire and you need to create a new one.
  6. In the HTTPS Interface area, set Basic Parameters and Notification Parameters.

    Heartbeat interval: specifies the interval for the third-party system to check whether the eSight is online.

  7. Click Apply.
