Monitoring ONU

Monitoring ONU

Major ONU faults include power-off and card faults. You can monitor the ONU device status to check whether a power-off fault occurs, and the ONU UNI to check whether a card fault occurs.

Prerequisites

Before monitoring the ONU device status, complete the following operations to customize OverView of the GPON management module.

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. Click Customize in the OverView window.
  3. In the Customize window that is displayed, click next to ONU State Statistics to complete customization.

Context

Monitoring of eSight on the ONU includes the following aspects:

  • ONU device status
  • ONU UNI interface status

Procedure

  1. Monitor the ONU device status.

    eSight provides multiple entries for displaying the ONU device status. You can choose either of the following methods:

    • (Recommended) Monitor the ONU device status through OverView of the GPON management module.
      1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
      2. In the OverView page, view the ONU device status.

    • View the ONU device status in the ONU list.
      1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
      2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
      3. In the ONU page, view the ONU device status.

  2. Monitor the ONU UNI interface status. For details, see 1.11.6.
