Managing the Soft Terminal Certificate

Managing the Soft Terminal Certificate

When any certificate updates or a customer wants to use their own certificates, upload the new certificates. The soft terminal certificate management function allows you to replace the built-in certificate files of the eSight. After certificates are updated on the eSight, soft terminals obtain the new certificates from the eSight.

  • You have the right to operate the Certification Management menu.
  • The root certificate, server certificate, server private key, and private key password files are available.

By default, eSight V3R6C00 and later versions support eSpace Desktop certificate download through HTTPS only. To use the HTTP protocol, you must manually modify the related files in the eSight installation directory. For details, see Configuring HTTP Access Parameters.

The certificate store file is generated based on the root certificate, server certificate, and server private key files using the certificate store making tool.

  • Each eSight system has a unique root certificate, used to verify devices and applications.

The root certificate of a device must be the same as the root certificate on the eSight.

  • The server certificate and server private key are used by the eSight to authenticate devices.
  • The value of Private Key Password is used for encrypting a certificate to ensure certificate security.

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration > Collaboration Management > Terminal Device Management from the main menu.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > Certificate Management > Soft Terminal certificate Management and specify the paths of the root certificate, server certificate, server private key, and enter the private key password.

The Private Key Password cannot contain the following special characters:

  3. Click Upload.

After the certificates are uploaded, Workplace-series soft terminals and eSpace desktops obtain the updated certificates from the eSight. After being authenticated, the Workplace-series soft terminals and eSpace desktops can communicate with the eSight.
