Customized View

Customized View

In a customized view, you can create, delete, and adjust topologies from the storage and host/virtual resources device.

Procedure

  1. Go to the customized view.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Storage Subnet.

    2. On the navigation bar, choose SAN Analyzer.
    3. Click . In the navigation tree, choose Customized View.

  2. In the navigation tree, click .

    The Create Customized View dialog box is displayed.

  3. In Name, enter a name for the view that you want to create.
  4. Optional: Set Device Type to Storage or Host/Virtual Resources.
  5. In Used Device, select the device for which you want to create a view and click . The selected device is displayed in Selected Device.
  6. Click OK.

    NOTE:
    • When you select Storage, the view will show the hosts that have LUN mapping relationship with the storage device and the switches that link to the storage device.
    • When you select Host/Virtual Resources, the view will show the storage devices that have LUN mapping relationship with the host/virtual resources, and the switches that link to the host/virtual resources.

  7. If you want to create a group, right-click the topology and choose Create Group. In the Create Group dialog box, enter the group name, select the device, and click OK. The group is created on the topology.
  8. If you want to display the device threshold alarm information, select Display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity to display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity.
  9. You can move your cursor over a topology object to view its basic information and operate the device.

    You can move your cursor over a storage device, such as a S2600T V1R5 device, the related operations is described as follows:

    Right-click an NE and choose Alarm List from the shortcut menu that is displayed to view alarms of the NE.

    NE Management

    Right-click an NE and choose NE Management from the shortcut menu that is displayed. On the Summary page that is displayed, view and manage the NE summary.

    Hosts Associated with Storage Devices

    Right-click an NE and choose Hosts Associated with Storage Devices from the shortcut menu that is displayed. On the Hosts Associated with Storage Devices page that is displayed, view the NE hosts associated with storage devices information.

    Create Link

    When hosts directly connect to storage devices and links cannot be automatically discovered, you can manually create links to associate devices.

    Right-click an NE and choose Create Link from the shortcut menu that is displayed. Click Source Node and Destination Node to which you want to connect. In the Add Link dialog box that is displayed, enter a name for the link to be created. You have finished creating the link.

    NOTE:

    When creating link for the third party storage devices, the port information could be reported to eSight unsuccessfully, if the Source Node or Destination Node information is null in the Add Link dialog box, the creating link operation will fail.

    You can move your cursor over a host, the related operations is described as follows:

    Right-click an NE and choose Logical Relationship Graph from the shortcut menu that is displayed. On the Logical Relationship Graph page that is displayed, view the host logical relationship information.

    Create Link

    When hosts directly connect to storage devices and links cannot be automatically discovered, you can manually create links to associate devices.

    Right-click an NE and choose Create Link from the shortcut menu that is displayed. Click Source Node and Destination Node to which you want to connect. In the Create Link dialog box that is displayed, enter the parameters for the link to be created. You have finished creating the link.

    Host Path Graph Performance Analysis

    Right-click an NE and choose Host Path Graph Performance Analysis from the shortcut menu that is displayed, view the host performance information.

    You can move your cursor over a link, the related operations is described as follows:

    Right-click an NE and choose Properties from the shortcut menu that is displayed to view of information the link.

    Historical Performance

    Click an NE and click in the lower part of the page. On the Historical Performance tab page, view the historical indicators of the NE.

    Realtime Performance

    Click an NE and click in the lower part of the page. On the Realtime Performance tab page, view the real—time indicators of the NE.

    +n

    If +n is displayed, there are n (n is a number) links. If you double-click the link, n is displayed. If you double-click the link again, the links are combined into one link.

    NOTE:

    In the view, if the host is running applications, all databases linked to the host are displayed after you double-click the host. If the virtualization server is running applications, all VMs linked to the virtualization server are displayed after you double-click the virtualization server.

  10. You can view the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity of the device in the Host Path Graph Performance Analysis and select the database and hard disks to view their historical and real-time performance.

    • If you want to display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity of the device, select Display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity. The number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity of the device are displayed in the path graph.
    • You can view the historical and real-time performance of the NEs and links in the host graph. For details, see Viewing Historical and Real-Time Performance.

  11. Use the menus on the topology view to adjust the topology.

    Name

    Operation

    Zoom in/out and reset

    • Click to zoom in the topology view.
    • Click to zoom out the topology view.
    • Click to reset the topology view to its default size.

    Browse

    Click to automatically adjust the topology to a suitable size.

    Full Screen

    Click to display the topology in full screen. To exit the full screen view, click again or press ESC.

    NOTE:

    In full screen mode, contents cannot be entered in a text box using a keyboard, but only be pasted by a right mouse click. If you want to enter contents using a keyboard, exit the full screen mode.

    Export

    Click to hide the navigation tree. Click again to display the navigation tree.#

    Save

    Click to save the current topology view.

    Refresh

    Click to refresh the current topology view.

    Export

    Click to export the current topology view.

    Search

    Click . The Topology Search dialog box is displayed. You can enter search criteria to search for desired topologies.

    Legend

    Click to hide the legends of the topology view. Click again to display the legends of the topology view.#

    Display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity

    Select or deselect Display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity to display the number of the threshold alarms in the highest serverity.

    NOTE:
    • You can click the created view and choose Delete Customized View from the shortcut menu to delete the view.
    • You can click the created view and choose Modify Customized View. In the Modify Customized View dialog box that is displayed, you can modify the name of the view and related device information.
