Typical Configuration Examples

Typical Configuration Examples

This section describes typical configuration examples in typical application scenarios, helping users complete various operations based on the actual scenarios.

Upgrading the Device Software

eSight provides a software upgrade wizard that instructs users to batch complete version upgrade, patch installation, and license activation operations. Compared with the traditional mode, the software upgrade wizard simplifies operation and improves configuration efficiency.

Prerequisites
  • Devices have been added to the eSight and are managed properly.
  • Telnet parameters have been configured.
  • The FTP server is running properly.
Procedure
  1. Upload device software files.

    1. Choose Resource > Network > Configuration > Device Software Management from the main menu.

    2. Choose File Management from the navigation tree on the left and click to upload files.

  2. Access the upgrade wizard page.

    1. In the navigation tree, choose Version Upgrade Management > Task Management.
    2. Click to access the upgrade wizard page.

  3. Set basic information of an upgrade task.

Set Task Name, Category, Task Type, FTP Type, and Task Strategy, and click Next.

    • The Task Type field can be set to Upgrade and Patch.

If Task Type is set to Upgrade, eSight upgrades the device version and activates the license file. If Task Type is set to Patch, eSight uploads patches.

    • The FTP Type field can be set to FTP and SFTP.

The FTP type specifies the type of protocol used to transfer files between eSight and devices. SFTP has higher security than FTP; therefore, SFTP is recommended.

  4. Select the devices to be upgraded.

Click to select the devices to be upgraded, and then click Next.

  5. Select the target version.

Set Upgrade Type, select the corresponding target version, and click Create.

  6. Check whether an upgrade task is created.

In the Check Result column under Device List, check whether an upgrade task is created. If an upgrade task is created successfully, click Complete Create.

    NOTE:

If you want to create other upgrade tasks, click Continue Create.

  7. Check whether an upgrade task is executed.

On the Task Management page, click the name of the upgrade task to view detailed information of the task and the execution result.

    • You can view the upgrade status of each device in the Task Status column. If the upgrade fails, view the failure causes in the Failure reason column.
    • If you want to re-deliver an upgrade task to a device that fails to be upgraded, select the device and click . Alternatively, click next to the device that fails to be upgraded.
