eSight allows you to monitor vCenter server and its resources by view on the home page, and resource manager.

Abnormal Communication of VMs

When a service exception occurs, for example, network disconnection or data transmission discontinuity, you can locate fault causes using the detailed data on the VM resource management page.

You have obtained the IP address and name of the VM where the service exception occurs.

  1. Click the Search icon in the upper right corner and set search criteria, for example, the name of a VM.
  2. Select the VM you want to view and click it to access the VM resource manager.
  3. Choose Details > Basic Information in the navigation area on the left. Then check and handle static configuration information of the VM.
  4. Choose Details > Alarm List in the navigation area on the left. Then check and handle alarms related to the fault.
  5. Choose Details > Other VMs on Same Host in the navigation area on the left, locate the abnormal VM, and access its resource manager.
  6. Choose Details > Network Traffic Analysis in the navigation area on the left and check and handle abnormal services.

Click the resource link on the Network Traffic Analysis page to access the Traffic Monitor page, on which you can view detailed traffic statistics of sessions, applications, and interfaces.

Identifying the Overloading Status of a Data Center in Advance

eSight supports region monitoring to detect abnormal data centers in time and locate faults by data analysis. In this way, eSight is able to identify whether network bandwidth and computing resources are overloaded in advance.

At least one data center is in abnormal state.

  1. In the main menu, choose Resource > Virtual Resources.
  2. Choose Virtual Resources > Region Monitor in the navigation area on the left.
  3. Select a data center that is in abnormal state.
  4. Check the information under Online Public Network Egresses with Abnormal Traffic in the lower part of this page.

    • Analyze the reason why a port is overloaded based on the physical interface's current and historical performance statistics.
    • Locate customers, traffic restriction groups, IP addresses, sessions, and applications that make ports overloaded based on network traffic monitoring.

  5. Check the information under Abnormal Cluster in the lower part of this page.

    1. Click the name of a cluster to access its region monitoring view.
    2. Click the view with an abnormal rate. hosts or VMs will be listed below the view.

    3. Locate hosts or VMs that are overloaded and access their resource managers to further analyze fault causes.
