How Can eSight Be Connected to the SMN Service

After being connected to the public cloud SMN service, eSight can remotely notify maintenance personnel of reported alarms by email or SMS. This service is applicable to the scenario where the eSight is deployed in the public cloud environment and the customer cannot provide the email or SMS server.

Prerequisites

  • eSight has been installed properly and the IoT component package has been installed.
  • The eSight server is properly communicating with the IAM and SMN servers in the public cloud environment.
  • Parameters required for connecting eSight to the public cloud SMN service have been obtained.

Procedure

  1. Set connection parameters.

    1. Use a browser to log in to eSight.
    2. In the main menu, choose System > System Interconnection.
    3. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Set Notified Server > SMN Service Notice.
    4. Set connection parameters.

    5. Click Test.
      • If the message "Connection Failure" is displayed, modify the connection parameters and test the connection again.
      • If the message "Connection Success" is displayed, go to the next step.
    6. Click Apply.

  2. Create a user to be notified remotely.

    1. In the main menu, choose System > System Interconnection.
    2. In the navigation on the left, choose Set Notified User > User.
    3. Click Create.
    4. Configure user information.
    5. Click OK.

      After the user is created, the public cloud SMN service sends subscription emails to the email address and mobile number. To confirm the subscription, click the subscription confirmation hyperlink in the email.

  3. Create a user group.

    1. In the main menu, choose System > System Interconnection.
    2. In the navigation on the left, choose Set Notified User > User Group.
    3. Click Create.
    4. In the Available Users area, select the user created in 2.
    5. Click OK.

  4. Create a remote notification rule.

    1. In the main menu, choose Fault > Alarm Settings.
    2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Notification Rule.
    3. Click Create.
    4. Configure rule information.
      • In the Notified By area, set Sending mode to Email and SMS.
      • In the Recipient Groups area, set Recipient Groups to the user group created in 3.
    5. Click OK.
