Report Management

Creating a Report

This section describes how to create a report as required to query desired report data.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • Make sure the Infrastructure Management IP address is added to the list of browser security sites.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System

Context

The report management system provides the resource report, performance report, energy report, and capacity report. You can create different report as required.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Statistical Analysis > Custom Report > Report Management from the main menu. The Report Management window is displayed.
  2. In the displayed Report Management window, click the plus icon (+) in the Customized Report area to add a report template.
  3. In the Report Template page, set parameters.

    Parameter Description
    Template name

    Name of the report you want to create or modify.

    • A maximum of 100 characters.
    • The following characters are allowed: English characters, Chinese characters, numbers, and special characters except ".!#%&@'+/;<=>?,
    • Template names in the report directory must not be the same.
    Template Type

    Select the report template type.

    1. Click Select Template.
    2. In the displayed select predefine template dialog box, select a template.
    3. Click OK.
    Description

    You can type the related description for the report template. A maximum of 1024 characters are allowed.

    This parameter is optional.

    Select Object The managed objects.

    If there are many objects, you can select the object type, enter an object name, and click to locate the corresponding object.

    Select KPI
    • The counters which are selected will be displayed in the report data.
    • The counters which are not selected will not be displayed in the report data.
    • You should have specified the counters for the selected object in the Template Configuration window (except that some objects have default counters).
    Select Time
    • Dimension: The options are Hour, Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year.

    • Time: The value you entered in the text box indicates the number of the past times.

  4. Click Next.
  5. In the New Graph page, set graphs.
    1. Click +, the New Portlet dialog box is displayed.
    2. Select the chart style for displaying the report and click OK.
    3. Repeat step a and step b to add more charts as required.
  6. Click Finish to create the template.

    Click Finish and create task. The template is created and the page automatically jump to the Report Task page. For details about creating a report task, please follow Creating Report Tasks.

Follow-up Procedure

You can perform the following operations on the customized report:

If you need to... Then...
Modify a report

In the Customized Report area, select the report you want to modify and click .

Copy a report

In the Customized Report area, select the report you want to copy and click . The generated report template is displayed in the Customized Report area after copying the report succeeds. You need to change the name of the report template in time.

Delete a report
In the displayed Customized Report area, select the report you want to delete and click .
  • For reports for which no report tasks are created, click Delete to delete the reports directly.
  • For reports for which report tasks are created, delete the report tasks before you delete the reports.
    NOTE:
    For details about deleting the report tasks, see Creating Report Tasks.
The report template is no longer displayed in the Customized Report area after deleting the report template succeeds.

Modifying a Report

This section describes how to modify report attributes to create a report that meets service requirements.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Statistical Analysis > Custom Report > Report Management from the main menu. The Report Management window is displayed.
  2. In the displayed Report Management window, select the report you want to modify and click in the Customized Report area.
  3. Modify the parameters as required.

    Parameter Description
    Template name

    NOTE:
    Only the Performance Report page allows you to select or modify objects and KPIs in the figure. If you have changed the objects or KPIs of a report, you must delete the original figure so that you can save the new report.
    • Click the Objects tab and select objects in the displayed Select Objects dialog box.
    • Click the KPI tab and select KPIs in the displayed Select KPIs dialog box.

  6. Click Finish.

Saving Report Results

This section describes how to save report results. The eSight Infrastructure Manager allows users to save required information as a file in a specific format. This facilitate convenient data browsing.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • The required report has been generated.

Context

You can save report results in three kinds of files: PDF, Excel and CSV.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Statistical Analysis > Custom Report > Report Management from the main menu. The Report Management window is displayed.
  2. In the Customized Report area, select the name of the report which you want to save. The Please select query time dialog box is displayed.
  3. Set a query time.
  4. Click Query, the query results is displayed.

    In the report name window, you can perform the following operations on query results:

    If you need to... Then...
    Export report results
    1. Click Export.
    2. Select CSV or PDF or Excel from the drop-down list.
    3. click Save to save the report file on the local PC.
    NOTE:
    • If you want to export reports, log in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client using Internet Explorer 9/10/11, Firefox 38esr, Chrome 43.
    • The Excel and CSV file formats apply only to the export of tables, but not figures.
    • You are advised to open exported periodic reports in PDF format using Foxit Reader. If you use Adobe Reader to open them, install the required font files as prompted and update the font database of Adobe Reader in time.
    • When you export report data as a PDF file, you need to select the KPIs you want to export. You can select a maximum of 10 KPIs.
    Send report results
    1. Click Email.
    2. Enter Recipient, Subject, Body and select Format in the displayed dialog box.
      NOTE:

      If email recipients have been defined, click Recipients and select recipients from the displayed Select User Group dialog box. If no recipient is defined, click Edit User Group to create recipients.

      The size limit of a single email is 10 MB.

    3. Click OK.
    NOTE:
    • You need to input calling number and Email for sending remote alarm notification. Therefore, you are obligated to take considerable measures, in compliance with the laws of the countries concerned and the user privacy policies of your company, to ensure that the personal data of users is fully protected.

Querying Report Results

This section describes how to query concerned report information in a customized report.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Access Control Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Configuration Management > Device Software Management
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Configuration > Autocontrol > Autocontrol Strategy
    • Resource > Infrastructure > System
  • You have created some reports.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Statistical Analysis > Custom Report > Report Management from the main menu. The Report Management window is displayed.
  2. In the displayed Report Management window, click the report name in the Customized Report area to query report data.
  3. In the displayed Please select query time window, select the query period and click Query.

    In the displayed query result window, you can view data of the customized report.

    NOTE:

    Click Time Settings to reselect the time. You can view data of the customized report in other time periods.

Manually Aggregating Report Data

Report data is not aggregated after the collection. Users can aggregate the data manually for viewing the latest report data.

  • You have logged in to the eSight Infrastructure Manager client by web browser.
  • You are authorized to use View Infrastructure Right.
    The operation right consist of all operation rights for the following function menus:
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Monitor
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Alarm
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Business
    • Resource > Infrastructure > Analysis

Context

By default, hourly report data is automatically aggregated at the 30th minute of every hour. Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly report data is automatically aggregated at 02:00 of the starting date in the next dimension.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > Infrastructure > Statistical Analysis > Custom Report > Report Management from the main menu. The Report Management window is displayed.
  2. Click to aggregate data of all reports in the Report Management window.
  3. In the displayed dialog box, click OK.
