Managing Tasks

The task management module allows you to manage tasks delivered to network elements (NEs). You can stop, perform, and delete tasks, and change task deployment modes.

Viewing All Tasks

You can view basic information about all tasks, and resume, suspend, stop, or delete tasks.

Prerequisites

Templates have been deployed on specified servers.

Procedure

  1. Open the task list page.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

    2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration&Deployment > Task Management.

  2. In the function pane, view basic information about all tasks.

    The basic information includes the task name, status, execution result, number of deployed devices, execution time, next execution time, and number of historical executions.

  3. Search for tasks.

    1. In the upper right part of the page, select Name, Task Execution Result or Status.
    2. Set the parameters.

      The search result is listed.

  4. Manage tasks.

    • Resume a task.

      Resume a task that has been suspended. After a task is resumed, its original deployment policy is used.

      1. Select the target task from the task list.
      2. Click Resume.

        A success message is displayed.

      3. Click OK.
    • Suspend a task.

      Suspend an idle task that is not needed temporarily. After a suspended task is resumed, its original deployment policy is used.

      1. Select the target task from the task list.
      2. Click Suspend.

        A success message is displayed.

      3. Click OK.
    • Stop a task.

      Stop a task that is being executed.

      1. Select the target task from the task list.
      2. Click Stop.

        A success message is displayed.

      3. Click OK.
    • Delete a task.

      Delete a task that is no longer needed.

      1. Select the target task from the task list.
      2. Click Delete.

        A success message is displayed.

      3. Click OK.

Creating a Task

You can create a task.

Procedure

  1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

  2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration & Deployment > Task Management.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Select a task type.

    • Creating a template task
      1. Set Task Type to Template task.
      2. Configure basic template task information as prompted and click Next.

      3. Select a template and click Next.

      4. Select devices where the template is to be deployed and click Next.

        • If Mode is set to Deploy now, the system is deployed immediately.
        • If Mode is set to Policy deployment, the system will be deployed at the specified time.

          If Mode is set to Policy deployment, you need to set Start time and Frequency.

      5. Select a deployment mode and click Next.

      6. Click Finish.

      7. Select I have read the warning message carefully.
      8. Click OK.
    • Creating a batch replication task
      1. Set Task Type to Batch replication task.

      2. Set Replication Type, and click Next.

      3. Select a source device and click Next.

        The value of Device Model must be the same for the target and source devices.

      4. Select a target device and click Next.

        • If Mode is set to Deploy now, the system is deployed immediately.
        • If Mode is set to Policy deployment, the system will be deployed at the specified time.

          If Mode is set to Policy deployment, you need to set Start time.

      5. Select a deployment mode and click Next.

      6. Click Finish.
      7. Click OK.

Viewing Task Details

You can view details about deployed tasks.

Prerequisites

Templates have been deployed on specified NEs.

Procedure

  1. Open the task list page.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

    2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration&Deployment > Task Management.

  2. View details about a task.

    1. In the function pane, click the name of the target task.
    2. In the Task Details dialog box, view details about the task.
    3. Click Close.

Viewing Deployed NE Information

You can view information about network elements (NEs) on which tasks are deployed.

Prerequisites

Templates have been deployed on specified NEs.

Procedure

  1. Open the task list page.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

    2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration&Deployment > Task Management.

  2. View information about NEs on which tasks are deployed.

    1. In the task list, click the value of Deployed Device Quantity for the target task.
    2. In the displayed dialog box, view details about NEs.

      The details include the device name, type, deployment status, deployment result, and deployment progress.

    3. Click Close.

Viewing Historical Task Execution Results

View historical execution results of tasks.

Prerequisites

Templates have been deployed on specified NEs.

Procedure

  1. Open the task list page.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

    2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration&Deployment > Task Management.

  2. View the historical execution results of a task.

    1. In the function pane, click the value of History Executed Number for the target task.
    2. On the displayed page, view the historical execution results of the task.

      The historical execution results include the task ID, execution time, deployment results, and total number of devices on which the task has been deployed.

    3. Click Close.

Modifying a Task

You can change the deployment mode for a task.

Prerequisites

Templates have been deployed on specified network elements (NEs).

Procedure

  1. Open the task list page.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

    2. In the navigation tree, choose Configuration&Deployment > Task Management.

  2. Change the deployment mode for a task.

    1. In the function pane, click next to the target task.
    2. Select Deploy now or Policy deployment for Mode.
      • If you select Deploy now, the system deploys the template immediately.
      • If you select Policy deployment, the system will deploy the template at the specified time.

        If you select Policy deployment, you need to set Start time and Frequency.

    3. Click OK.

      A success message is displayed.

    4. Click OK.

  3. Optional: Redeploy the task.

    1. In the function pane, click next to the target task.
    2. Click OK.

      A success message is displayed.

    3. Click OK.
