Failure in Installing FusionStorage Block Using a Tool

Failure in Installing FusionStorage Block Using a Tool

Symptom

When a user installs FusionStorage Block using an installation tool, the installation fails.

The following locating measures have been taken on the FusionStorage Manager (FSM) node:
  • The rpm -qa|grep dsware-manager command has been executed, and the command output shows that FusionStorage Block has been installed.
  • The rpm -qa|grep dsware-manager command has been executed. An exception is displayed or the command output shows that FusionStorage Block is not installed.

Possible Causes

The .rpmdb file is damaged because the server is unexpectedly restarted before the installation is complete.

Procedure

    1. Use PuTTY to log in to the server on which the FSM node is to be installed. Ensure that the management plane IP address and username root are used to establish the connection.

If the public and private keys are used to authenticate the login, perform the operations based on Using PuTTY to Log In to a Node in Key Pair Authentication Mode.

    2. Run the following command to clear the .rpmdb file:

      rm /var/lib/rpm/__db*

    3. Run the following command to rebuild the .rpmdb file:

      rpmdb --rebuilddb

After the .rpmdb file is restored, install the FusionStorage Block software again using the installation tool.
