Configuring the Number of VBS Processes


By default, one VBS process is deployed on each compute node. In database scenarios, IB or RoCE networking places high requirements on compute node performance. One VBS process may not meet service requirements. You are advised to deploy multiple VBS processes based on service requirements and resources.



You have obtained the management IP address of the primary FSM node and the password of user dsware.


    1. Use PuTTY to log in to the primary FSM node.

      Log in to the primary FSM node using the FSM management node IP address as user dsware.

      If the public and private keys are used to authenticate the login, perform the operations based on Using PuTTY to Log In to a Node in Key Pair Authentication Mode.

    2. Run the vim /opt/omm/oms/workspace0/webapps/dsware/WEB-INF/SystemConfiguration.xml command to change the value of g_vbs_per_server.

      The following is an example of changing the parameter value to 2:

      <g_vbs_per_server type="initial" range="[1:10]" desc=" vbs process number in one server">2</g_vbs_per_server>

      The value is the number of VBS processes installed on a single compute node. The value ranges from 1 to 10. The minimum number of VBS processes is 2. If the system resources are sufficient, four VBS processes are recommended.

      The number of VBS processes to be deployed on each compute node must be evaluated based on the resources that can be provided by compute nodes for the VBS and the performance requirements of users on compute nodes. For details about the VBS process resource requirements, see compute node requirements in section CPU and Memory in System Requirements.

    3. Run the su - omm -c restart_tomcat command to restart tomcat.
