Installing Drivers and Tools

Installing Drivers and Tools

Prerequisites

Conditions

All hardware components have been installed and connected.

You have obtained related documents and software packages by referring to Installation Preparations.

Procedure

Installing Drivers and RAID CLI Tools

    1. Log in to the OS of the servers as user root.
    2. Go to the directory where the driver software resides, for example, /home.
    3. Run the rpm -ivh driver package name command to install RAID CLI tools.

      Example

      • MegaCLI: rpm -ivh MegaCli-8.07.10-1.noarch.rpm
      • StorCLI: rpm -ivh storcli-1.13.06-1.noarch.rpm
      • HpacuCLI: rpm -ivh hpacucli-2.30-6.0.noarch.rpm
      • PercCLI: rpm -ivh perccli-1.17.10-1.noarch.rpm

    4. Install network adapter drivers.

For 10GE, IB, and RoCE network adapters, obtain driver software and installation guide from their technical support websites and then install drivers as instructed in the guide.

Example: Installing drivers for IB and RoCE network adapters used in FusionSphere OpenStack V100R006C10
      1. Install network adapter drivers.
        • IB network adapter: mlnx_ib_install --trans "--distro rhel7.2,--force-kmp " --force driver package name
        • RoCE network adapter: mlnx_roce_install --trans "--distro rhel7.2,--force-kmp,--hypervisor" --force driver package name
      2. Run the /etc/init.d/openibd restart command to restart services.
      NOTE:

If IB and RoCE network adapters are from the same vendor and use the same driver, you only need to install the driver once. For example, IB and RoCE network adapters from Mellanox use the same driver.

    5. For details about how to install main storage drivers, see the document of the corresponding vendor.

For ES3000 SSDs, see ES3000 V3 NVMe PCIe SSD User Guide or ES3000 V5 NVMe PCIe SSD User Guide based on the disk type, and choose Installation and Configuration > Confirming Driver Information.

After installing drivers and configuring FSM, you can log in to the FusionStorage Block self-service maintenance platform and view SSD devices.

    6. When ES3000 is used, you need to install a tool for managing ES3000, such as hioadm.

For details, see ES3000 V3 NVMe PCIe SSD User Guide or ES3000 V5 NVMe PCIe SSD User Guide based on the disk type, and choose Installation and Configuration > Installing the Tool Package.

    Configuring main storage

The RAID configuration of main storage disks varies among different RAID cards. For details about requirements, see Interoperability. For details about how to configure the main storage, see server documents of the corresponding vendor.

    Enabling the Hardware DIF Function

When a storage node uses ES3000 V3 or ES3000 V5 as the main storage or cache, the hardware DIF function must be enabled. For details, see FusionStorage Hardware DIF Configuration Guide to enable the DIF function.
