Configuring Switches

Scenarios

If some servers use RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) NICs, you need to configure the layer-2 Priority-based Flow Control (PFC) and layer-3 Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) protocols on the access and aggregation switch ports, respectively.

This section uses Huawei CloudEngine 6860 and 12808 switches (switch software version V200R002C50SPC800) as the sample switches.

Prerequisites

Conditions

  • You have deployed the FusionStorage Manager (FSM) nodes and configured the RoCE network for FusionStorage Agent (FSA) nodes.
  • The software version of the target switches is V200R002C50SPC800 or later, and the switch login information has been obtained.
  • You have obtained the FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_tool.zip software package.

Procedure

    Generate the switch configuration command file.

    1. Use WinSCP to copy the FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_tool.zip software package to the /home/dsware directory.

      Ensure that username dsware is used to establish the connection. The default password of user dsware is IaaS@OS-CLOUD9!.

      For details about how to use WinSCP, see Transferring a File Using WinSCP.

    2. Use PuTTY to log in to the FSM node.

      Ensure that username dsware and the management plane floating IP address are used to establish the connection. The default password of user dsware is IaaS@OS-CLOUD9!.

      If the public and private keys are used to authenticate the login, perform the operations based on Using PuTTY to Log In to a Node in Key Pair Authentication Mode.

    3. Run the following command to switch the /home/dsware directory:

      cd /home/dsware

    4. Run the following command to decompress the FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_tool.zip software package:

      unzip FusionStorage\ Block\ V100R006C20RC2_tool.zip

    5. Run the following command to generate the switch configuration file:

      sh /opt/dsware/client/bin/dswareTool.sh --op getRoceSwitchConfig -mode 0 -num 100 -nicType 0

      In the command, mode specifies the switch networking mode, for example 0. num specifies the number of nodes (computing nodes and storage nodes) that use RoCE networking in the system, for example 100. nicType specifies the supported RoCE NIC type, and the value can be 0 (indicates ConnectX-4) or 1 (indicates Hi822).

      Table 9-1 shows the switch networking modes supported by FusionStorage Block.

    6. Run the following command and enter the password of user root to switch to user root:

      su - root

      The default password of user dsware is IaaS@OS-CLOUD8!.

    7. Run the following command to switch the /home/dsware/roce directory:

      cd /home/dsware/roce

    8. Run the following command to generate the switch configuration command file SwitchCmdline.txt:

      python ConvertSwitchConfig.py /opt/dsware/client/conf/roce_switch_config.xml

    Configure the aggregation switch.

    1. Log in to the aggregation switch.
    2. Run all commands in Aggregation Switch Config > PFC Profile of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure the PFC template.

      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display dcb pfc-profile default command to view the configuration result.

    3. Run all commands in Aggregation Switch Config > ECN Profile of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure the ECN template.

      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display drop-profile ecn command to view the configuration result.

    4. In the interface view of each target port, run all commands in Aggregation Switch Config > Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure ports.

      • If the configurations of all target ports are the same, you can run the port-group group-member Port1 port2 ... command on the switch to add all ports to a temporary port group and then run all commands in Aggregation Switch Config > Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt in the switch system view to configure all target ports at a time.
      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display this command in the interface view to check the configuration result of the current port.

    5. After the configuration is complete, run the following commands to enter the user view and save the configuration:

      return

      save

    Configure the access switch.

    1. Log in to the access switch.
    2. Run all commands in Access Switch Config > PFC Profile of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure the PFC template.

      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display dcb pfc-profile default command to view the configuration result.

    3. Run all commands in Access Switch Config > ECN Profile of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure the ECN template.

      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display drop-profile ecn command to view the configuration result.

    4. In the interface view of each target uplink port, run all commands in Access Switch Config > Upstream Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure uplink ports.

      • If the configurations of all target ports are the same, you can run the port-group group-member Port1 port2 ... command on the switch to add all ports to a temporary port group and then run all commands in Access Switch Config > Upstream Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt in the switch system view to configure all target ports at a time.
      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display this command in the interface view to check the configuration result of the current port.

    5. In the interface view of each target downlink port, run all commands in Access Switch Config > Downstream Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt to configure downlink ports.

      • If the configurations of all target ports are the same, you can run the port-group group-member Port1 port2 ... command on the switch to add all ports to a temporary port group and then run all commands in Access Switch Config > Downstream Port Config of SwitchCmdline.txt in the switch system view to configure all target ports at a time.
      • If no error message is displayed in the command output, the commands are successfully executed.
      • You can run the display this command in the interface view to check the configuration result of the current port.

    6. Configure stack ports.

      Stack ports need to be configured only when the stack networking is used.
      1. Determine whether the port speed is consistent with the uplink port speed or downlink port speed.
      2. Configure stack ports using the ports with the same port speed. For details about how to configure stack ports, see the relevant port configuration.

    7. After the configuration is complete, run the following commands to enter the user view and save the configuration:
