Configuring FSM

Configuring FSM

Scenarios

Install FSM nodes on physical servers.
NOTE:
When FSM is deployed on physical servers, do not use such servers as storage servers.

Prerequisites

Conditions

The server operating system (OS) has been installed, and the management IP addresses have been configured.

Data

  • You have obtained the management IP addresses of all servers.
  • You have obtained the password of user root for all servers. In scenarios where hardware and software are integrated, the default password of user root is Huawei@123 at server delivery.

Software

  • FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_InstallTool.zip

  • FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200.zip

Procedure

Install FSM nodes using FusionStorage Block Install Tool.

    1. Decompress FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_InstallTool.zip on your local PC.
    2. Switch to the directory containing Install Tool after decompression and double-click FusionStorageTool.exe.

FusionStorage Block Install Tool is started. Figure 8-36 shows the tool operation page. You can switch the language to use in the upper left corner of the page.

Figure 8-36  FusionStorage Block Install Tool operation page

    3. Click Install FusionStorage Block software.

The host information configuration page is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-37.

      Figure 8-37  Configuring host information

    4. Configure the host on which the FSM node is to be installed.

      • Password-based authentication:
        • IP: Enter the management IP address of the host.
        • Method: Configure the password authentication.
        • Login user name: Enter the username used for logging in to the host using SSH. If you can log in to the host as user root, enter root for this parameter. Do not enter dsware.
        • Login password: Enter the password of the login user.
        • Root password: Enter the password of user root. If you can log in to the host as user root, leave this parameter blank.
      • Public key-based authentication:
        • IP: Enter the management IP address of the host.
        • Method: Configure the public key-based authentication.
        • Login user name: Enter the username used for logging in to the host using SSH. If you can log in to the host as user root, enter root for this parameter. Do not enter dsware.
        • Root password: Enter the password of user root. If you can log in to the host as user root, leave this parameter blank.
        • User Key: Double-click and select the private key file.
        • Passphrase: This parameter is optional. You do not need to specify this parameter if no password has been configured for the private key file.

If the FSM node is deployed in standalone mode, deselect Enable a standby host.

    5. After host information is configured, click Connect to connect to the host.
    6. After the connection is successfully set up, click Next.

The software installation page is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-38.

      Figure 8-38  Software installation

    7. Click Browse and select the FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200.zip FSM software package.
    8. Click Install to start FSM installation.

The FSM node is successfully installed if the page shown in Figure 8-39 is displayed.

      NOTE:
If an exception occurs, for example, the server is unexpectedly restarted before the installation is complete, the installation will fail. Then, handle the failure according to Failure in Installing FusionStorage Block Using a Tool.

    9. Click Next.

The configuration page is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-40.

    10. Configure the following management network information of the FSM node based on the network plan.

      • External network information (mandatory)
        • Nic for external: Select the NIC of the external management network plane.
        • External IP: Enter the IP address of the external management network plane. If FSM nodes are deployed working in active/standby mode, enter the floating IP address.
        • External Mask: Enter the subnet mask of the external management network plane.
      • Internal network information (required only when the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes). You can use the Network mode option to select the single- or dual-network-plane mode.
        • Nic for internal: Select the NIC of the internal management network plane.
        • Internal IP: Enter the IP address of the internal management network plane. If FSM nodes are deployed working in active/standby mode, enter the floating IP address.
        • Internal Mask: Enter the subnet mask of the internal management network plane.
      • Other information
        • Host name: Enter the host name.
        • Default gateway: Enter the default gateway, which is the gateway of the external management network plane in most cases.
        • Internal gateway: Enter the internal management network gateway when the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes.
        • Network mode: If the FSM node is equipped with only one network plane, it is used for FSM communication. If the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes, the internal network plane is used by the FSM node to communicate with the FSA node, and the external network plane is used for accessing the FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform and communicating with third-party components.

    11. After the preceding parameters are configured, click Configure.
    12. After the FSM node is successfully configured, click Next.
    13. Click the access link to log in to the FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform as user admin.

The default password of user admin is IaaS@PORTAL-CLOUD8!.

      NOTE:
If the installation tool fails to stop after it is used, forcibly stop the tool by performing the following operations:
      1. Hold down Win and press R to open the task running window, enter cmd, and press Enter.
