Network

Table 3-5 describes the network requirements.
Table 3-5  Network requirements
Category Requirement

Computing node

  • NICs on physical servers support the single-network-port mode (used for the eBackup and CVM nodes) as well as the active-backup (bond mode 1) bonding mode.
  • In the event of 10GE/25GE networking, at least 2 x 10 Gbit/s or 2 x 25 Gbit/s networking.
  • The NIC types and network types are as follows: 10GE (TCP/IP), 40 Gbit/s InfiniBand (RDMA), 56 Gbit/s InfiniBand (RDMA), 10GE RoCE (RDMA), and 25GE RoCE (RDMA).
  • It is recommended that the physical network latency between computing nodes and storage nodes be less than 1 ms and packet loss rate be less than 3%.
  • RoCE v1 NICs cannot be interchanged with RoCE v2 NICs.
  • A local link IPv6 address starting with FE80 and a multicast IPv6 address starting with FF00 cannot be used. In addition, HyperMetro and remote replication cannot be used when IPv6 addresses are used.

Storage node

  • Port bonding must be configured for the NICs on physical servers, and the port bonding mode is active-backup (bond mode 1). If the bond mode is not configured or the bond mode is not set to 1, the network suboptimal health check mechanism will not take effect.
  • In the event of 10GE/25GE networking, at least 2 x 10 Gbit/s or 2 x 25 Gbit/s networking.
  • On a 40 Gbit/s or 56 Gbit/s InfiniBand network, the bandwidth can meet the requirements.
  • The NIC types and network types are as follows: 10GE (TCP/IP), 25GE (TCP/IP), 40 Gbit/s InfiniBand (RDMA), 56 Gbit/s InfiniBand (RDMA), 10GE RoCE (RDMA), and 25GE RoCE (RDMA).
  • When rack-level security is used, at least four 10 Gbit/s NICs are required for communication between cabinets, each server provides at least two 10 Gbit/s NICs, and the storage plane provides at least two 6 Gbit/s NICs.
