Configuring FSM

Scenarios

Configure FusionStorage Manager (FSM) VMs, including the hosts information and network information.

Prerequisites

Conditions

You have installed FSM VMs.

Data

Table 4-16 lists the data required for performing this operation.

Parameter

Description

Example Value

FSM node name

Identifies an FSM node in the system.
  • The FSM node name can contain only digits, letters, and hyphens (-). It must start with a letter and cannot exceed 32 characters.
  • The node name must be unique and different from the name of the cluster.

This parameter is mandatory.

FSM01

FSM node management IP addresses

Specifies the management IP addresses of active and standby FSM nodes.

This parameter is mandatory.

192.168.40.15 (active)/192.168.40.16 (standby)

Management plane gateway and subnet mask

This parameter is mandatory.

  • Gateway: 192.168.40.1

  • Subnet mask: 255.255.254.0

FSM node floating IP address

Specifies the floating IP address of the management plane for accessing the active FSM node.

This parameter is mandatory.

192.168.40.10

Software

FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_InstallTool.zip

Procedure

Configure the active/standby settings for FSM VMs using the installation tool.

    1. On your local PC, decompress the FusionStorage Block installation tool package, FusionStorage Block V100R006C20SPC200_InstallTool.zip.
    2. Switch to the folder containing the extracted installation tool files and double-click FusionStorageTool.exe.

The installation tool is started. Figure 4-27 shows the operation page of the tool. You can switch the language to use in the upper left corner of the page.

    3. Click Config an existence FusionStorage Block Manager.

A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-28.

      NOTE:
If the FSM VM is deployed on a single host, deselect Enable a standby host.

    4. Configure the host to deploy the FSM software.

      • Password-based authentication:
        • IP: Enter the temporary IP address that is specified during FSM installation.
        • Method: Configure the password authentication.
        • Login user name: Enter dsware.
        • Login password: Enter the default password (IaaS@OS-CLOUD9!) of user dsware.
        • Root password: Enter the default password (IaaS@OS-CLOUD8!) of user root.
      • Public key-based authentication:
        • IP: Enter the temporary IP address that is specified during FSM installation.
        • Method: Configure the public key-based authentication.
        • Login user name: Enter dsware.
        • Root password: Enter the default password (IaaS@OS-CLOUD8!) of user root.
        • User Key: Double-click and select the private key file.
        • Passphrase: This parameter is optional. You do not need to specify this parameter is no password has been configured for the private key file.

    5. After host information is configured, click Connect to set up connection to the hosts.
    6. After the connection is set up, click Next.

The Configure network and service initialize page is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-29.

    7. Configure the following management network information of the FSM node based on the network plan.

      • External network information (mandatory)
        • Nic of external: Select the NIC of the external management network plane.
        • External IP: Enter the IP address of the external management network plane. If FSM nodes are deployed working in active/standby mode, enter the floating IP address.
        • External Mask: Enter the subnet mask of the external management network plane.
      • Internal network information (required only when the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes). You can use the Network mode option to select the single- or dual-network-plane mode.
        • Nic of internal: Select the NIC of the internal management network plane.
        • Internal IP: Enter the IP address of the internal management network plane. If FSM nodes are deployed working in active/standby mode, enter the floating IP address.
        • Internal Mask: Enter the subnet mask of the internal management network plane.
      • Other information
        • Host name: Enter the host name.
        • Default gateway: Enter the default gateway, which is the gateway of the external management network plane in most cases.
        • Internal gateway: Enter the internal management network gateway when the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes.
        • Network mode: If the FSM node is equipped with only one network plane, it is used for FSM communication. If the FSM node is equipped with dual network planes, the internal network plane is used by the FSM node to communicate with the FSA node, and the external network plane is used for accessing the FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform and communicating with third-party components.

    8. After the preceding parameters are configured, click Configure.
    9. After the FSM node is successfully configured, click Next.
    10. Click the access link to log in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform as user admin.

The default password of user admin is IaaS@PORTAL-CLOUD8!.

      NOTE:
If the installation tool fails to stop after it is used, forcibly stop the tool by performing the following operations:
      1. Hold down Win and press R to open the task running window, enter cmd, and press Enter.
