Collect fault information.

Collect as much fault information as possible, because it helps maintenance engineers to correctly diagnose faults.

Diagnose the fault.

Before rectifying the fault, determine the fault type and the impact scope based on the information collected.

Locate the fault.

Find out the exact cause that leads to the fault from multiple possible causes, using analyzing, comparing, and other possible methods.

The commonly used methods to locate a fault are as follows:
  • Check the alarm information on the management page.
  • Check whether the monitoring information is normal on the management page.
  • Query and view the operation logs and analyze whether the operation process is correct.
  • Check whether the configuration data is correct on the management page.
  • Check the device indicator status to determine whether a device is running properly.

Rectify the fault.

Rectify the fault based on the cause that leads to the fault, including examining and repairing cables, modifying configuration data, and restarting related processes and servers.

NOTE:

If maintenance engineers have difficulty in rectifying the fault, contact technical support.

Ensure the fault is rectified.

Check the device status, indicator, or alarms, and commission related services to ensure that the system and the services are running properly.

Record the process for handling the fault.

Record how the fault is rectified, and provide measures to prevent similar faults and to improve the system.
