Replacing the Communication Certificate Between SMTP Server and FusionStorage

Replacing the Communication Certificate Between SMTP Server and FusionStorage

The replacement of the communication certificate between SMTP server and FusionStorage can ensure the security of communication.

Context

The communication between FusionStorage and SMTP server is connected by SSL protocol or Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. FusionStorage can authenticate SMTP server as a client. FusionStorage provides a CA certificate by default, you can replace the certificate with a self-prepared one periodically to ensure security.

You need to perform the following operations on each node to replace the communication certificate. The back-end IP address 10.99.1.2 of a non-primary node is used as an example in this section.

Procedure

  1. Determine which mail server communicate with FusionStorage and replace the communication certificate as following steps.
  2. Optional: Replace the communication certificate between alarm mail notification mail server and FusionStorage.
    1. Use Filezilla to upload the certificate to the /home/omuser directory of the node where the management IP address resides.

The file names must be cacert.pem and crl.pem in Privacy Enhanced Mail (pem) format.

    2. Start PUTTY and enter the management IP address to log in as account omuser to the cluster. The default password is Omuser@storage. run following commands.

      scp cacert.pem omuser@10.99.1.2:/home/omuser/

      scp crl.pem omuser@10.99.1.2:/home/omuser

    3. Run su - root and enter the password of root to switch to the user root.
    4. Run following commands to replace the certificate of management node.

      cp /home/omuser/cacert.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/alarm/cacert.pem

      cp /home/omuser/crl.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/alarm/crl.pem

    5. Run ssh omuser@10.99.1.2 and enter the omuser user password to go to the node.
    6. Run su - root and enter the password of root to switch to the user root.
    7. Run following commands to replace the certificate of non management node.

      cp /home/omuser/cacert.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/alarm/cacert.pem

      cp /home/omuser/crl.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/alarm/crl.pem

  3. Optional: Replace the communication certificate between admin user password retrieve mail server and FusionStorage.

      scp crl.pem omuser@10.99.1.2:/home/omuser

    3. Run su - root and enter the password of root to switch to the user root.
    4. Run following commands to replace the certificate of management node.

      cp /home/omuser/cacert.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/password/cacert.pem

      cp /home/omuser/crl.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/password/crl.pem

    5. Run ssh omuser@10.99.1.2 and enter the omuser user password to go to the node.
    6. Run su - root and enter the password of root to switch to the user root.
    7. Run following commands to replace the certificate of non management node.

      cp /home/omuser/cacert.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/password/cacert.pem

      cp /home/omuser/crl.pem /opt/product/snas/etc/cert/password/crl.pem
