Using Secure Encryption Protocols in the Object Storage Service

Using Secure Encryption Protocols in the Object Storage Service

Using secure encryption protocols in the object storage service is recommended.

The FusionStorage supports the object storage service compatible with Amazon S3 APIs and the object storage service compatible with OpenStack Swift APIs. Data is transferred based on network protocols in the object storage service. The supported network protocols include HTTP and HTTPS.

To prevent users from being counterfeited or data from being leaked, you are advised to choose HTTPS over HTTP when using the object storage service.

NOTE:
You may use HTTP to connect to Amazon S3 APIs for compatibility reasons. In this case, security risks may arise.

To disable HTTP for object storage service, do the following:

  1. Use SSH to remotely log in to the management storage node as user omuser. (The IP address of the management storage node is the same as that of the FusionStorage.)
  2. Run the cli_start -u admin to log in to CLI.
  3. Run the following commands as you need:
    • Run the change object_storage_compatible_s3_osc_service http disable command to disable HTTP for object storage service (compatible with Amazon S3 APIs).
    • Run the change object_storage_compatible_swift_osc_service http disable command to disable HTTP for object storage service (compatible with OpenStack Swift APIs).
    • Run the change object_storage_compatible_s3_poe_service http disable command to disable HTTP for account management of the object storage service (compatible with Amazon S3 APIs).
