Network Configuration

  1. Open yast2 in Terminal as shown in Figure 5-55. Configure a network for the server, run the yast2 command, and press Enter, as shown in Figure 5-56.

  2. In the dialog box that is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-57, choose Network Devices, and select Network settings in the right pane.

  3. The Overview tab is displayed, Retain default value eth0 in Configuration Name, click Edit, as shown in Figure 5-58.

  4. Edit statically assigned IP Address, clike Next, and OK in sequence, and close the YAST2 page, as shown in Figure 5-59.

    Use the parameters in Parameters to be Planned. Set the IP Address to and Subnet Mask to You can configure the IP address based on the actual condition.

  5. Run the ifconfig eth0 command, and press Enter.

    If the information similar to that in Figure 5-60 is displayed, the network is configured successfully.

  6. Run the rcSuSEfirewall2 stop command to disable the firewall, and press Enter.You can ignore this step if you stop the firewall in the installation.
  7. Connect a network cable to the first network port on the RH5885H /RH8100 V3 Broadwell. Use PuTTY to log in to the server. You can download PuTTY from chiark website. Run PuTTY and the PuTTY Configuration dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-61. Enter IP address and port then click Open.

  8. Enter the user name and password (user root and its password of the OS) for login, and press Enter, as shown in Figure 5-62.
