Installing the OS

  1. On the installation page, select Installation and press Enter.

  2. Select I Agree to the License Terms and click Next.

  3. Click Skip Registration. In the displayed dialog box, click Yes. Then click Next.

  4. Select Proceed with standard SLES for SAP Application installation and click Next.

  5. Select the items as follows and click Next.

  6. Click Expert Partitioner.

  7. Click Hard Disks, delete the partitions that are not required, select /sda, and click Add Partition.

  8. Select Primary Partition and click Next.

  9. Select Custom Size, set Size to 1 GB, and click Next.

  10. Select Operating System and click Next.

  11. Select Ext4 from the File System drop-down list and /boot from the Mount Point drop-down list, and click Finish.

  12. Select sda and click Add Partition.

  13. Select Primary Partition and click Next.

  14. Select Custom Size, enter the remaining capacity in the Size field, and click Next.

  15. Select Operating System and click Next.

  16. Select Do not format partition, choose 0x8E Linux LVM from the File system ID drop-down list, and click Finish.

  17. Click Volume Management and choose Volume Group from the Add drop-down list.

  18. Enter vg_os in the Volume Group Name field, select /dev/sda2, and Click Add. Then click Finish.

  19. Enter vg_hana in the Volume Group Name field, select /dev/sdb, and Click Add. Then click Finish.

  20. Choose Volume Management > vg_os, and click Add.

  21. Enter lv_usrsap in the Logical Volume field, select Normal Volume, and click Next.

  22. Select Custom Size, enter 200GB in the Size field, and click Next.

  23. Select Operating System and click Next.

  24. Choose Ext4 from the File System drop-down list and /usr/sap from the Mount Point drop-down list, and click Finish.

  25. Add other logical volumes as required.
  26. Add the following partitions on /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. Select Data and ISV Application for /dev/sdb.

    If a PCIe SSD card is mounted, ignore this partition during the OS installation. The partition size is 1 TB when the server does not have any PCIe SSD card.

  27. Click Next.

  28. Select a time zone and click Next.

    Set the time zone based on the actual situation.

  29. Set a password for user root and click Next.

    The password must consist of uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, and special characters, for example, Huawei_123.

  30. Click Software, select SAP HANA Server Base, and click OK.

  31. Disable the firewall and click Install.

  32. In the displayed Confirm Package License dialog box, click I Agree and then Install.

    The system will reboot after the installation is complete.
