Creating the User Key by Using the SAP HANA Client

Creating the User Key by Using the SAP HANA Client

  1. Log in a SAP HANA server (HW00001 in this example) as the root user and go to the /usr/sap/hdbclient installation directory.

    cd /usr/sap/hdbclient

  2. Create a monitoring account in SAP HANA,run ./hdbsql -i 00 -u system –p <SYTEM password> "create user rhelhasync password <password>" :

    ./hdbsql -i 00 -u system -p <SYTEM password> -n localhost:30015 "create user rhelhasync password <password>"

  3. Give the account authority by running following command:

    ./hdbsql -i 00 -u system -p <SYTEM password> -n localhost:30015 "grant CATALOG READ to rhelhasync"
    ./hdbsql -i 00 -u system -p <SYTEM password> -n localhost:30015 "grant MONITOR ADMIN to rhelhasync"
    ./hdbsql -i 00 -u system -p <SYTEM password> -n localhost:30015 "ALTER USER rhelhasync DISABLE PASSWORD LIFETIME"

  4. Run the./hdbuserstore SET SAPHANAS00SR localhost:30015 rhelhasync <password> command to create the user key for logging in to the database user SYSTEM.

    • SYTEM password: indicates the database user password. This procedure uses the password Huawei_123 as an example.
    • 30015: indicates the port number. In 30015, 00 is the database instance number. If the actual SID database number is not 00, change 00 to the actual instance number. For example, if the actual database instance number is 03, change 30015 to 30315.
    • If the database runs in multi-tenant mode, change the port number 3xx15 to 3xx13.
    HW00001:/usr/sap/hdbclient # ./hdbuserstore SET SAPHANAS00SR localhost:30015 rhelhasync Huawei_123

  5. Run the ./hdbuserstore list command to check whether the user key is successfully created. If ENV and USER in the command output are 30015 and rhelhasync respectively, the user key is successfully created.

    HW00001:/usr/sap/hdbclient # ./hdbuserstore list
    DATA FILE : /root/.hdb/HW00001/SSFS_HDB.DAT
    ENV : localhost:30015
    USER: rhelhasync

  6. Verify the user key.

Run the query command ./hdbsql -U SAPHANAS00SR "select * from dummy". If dummy X is displayed, the user key is correct. Otherwise, the user key is incorrect.

    HW00001:/usr/sap/hdbclient # ./hdbsql -U SAPHANAS00SR "select * from dummy"
    • Before you run the query command, ensure that the database is running in primary mode. The database is supposed not to be registered with another database. Otherwise, the query command fails.
    • If the database runs in multi-tenant mode, this command cannot be used to verify the user key.

  7. Log in to the other SAP HANA server as the root user and create the user key in the same way.
