Description

The ETH_NO_FLOW is an alarm indicating that the Ethernet port has no traffic. This alarm is reported when a monitored object has no traffic. For example, when the Ethernet port is enabled and in the Link Up state, this alarm is reported if the ETH port has no traffic.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the direction in which the traffic stops.

  • 0x00: the RX direction.
  • 0x01: the TX direction.

Impact on the System

This alarm indicates that the port has no traffic and the configured services are interrupted.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the ETH_NO_FLOW alarm are as follows:

  • An Ethernet port is enabled and in linkup state, but is not configured with services.
  • Services at the local end become abnormal or no packets are transmitted to the opposite end when an Ethernet port is enabled and in linkup state.
  • Services at the opposite end become abnormal or no packets are transmitted to the local end when an Ethernet port is enabled and in linkup state.

Procedure

  1. View the ETH_NO_FLOW alarm on the U2000 to confirm the object, such as port, tunnel, and VLAN, where the ETH_NO_FLOW alarm is generated.
  2. Check whether any service is configured on the monitored object. If no services are configured due to carelessness, configure services correctly.
  3. If services have been configured at the port, locate the direction in which the traffic stops according to Parameter.
    • If the traffic stops in the TX direction, check whether the local board works normally. If the local board works abnormally, troubleshoot the local board.
    • If the traffic stops in the RX direction, check whether the opposite board works normally. If the opposite board works abnormally, troubleshoot the opposite board.
  4. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
