Description

The HARD_ERR alarm indicates a hardware error. The alarm occurs when the board hardware has a minor fault.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Name Meaning

Parameter 1

Indicates the fault type of the alarm. For example:
0x01
  • EM20, EM10: indicates that the clock chip is faulty.
  • Other boards: indicates that the power supply module is abnormal.

0x02 indicates that the board is not properly installed (the board is not in good contact with the backplane, that is, the board is not secured).

0x03 indicates that 38M system clock 1 is abnormal.

0x04 indicates that 38M system clock 2 is abnormal.

0x05 indicates that the 2M clock source is abnormal.

0x06 indicates the digital phase-locked loop is abnormal.

0x07 indicates that the 38M service clock is lost.

0x08
  • HUNS3: indicates that the temperature is abnormal.
  • Other boards: indicates that the bus is abnormal.

0x09 indicates that the standby board in TPS protection is abnormal.

0x0a indicates the active crystal oscillator of the clock stops.

0x0b indicates the frequency deviation of the crystal oscillator is excessively large.

  • HUND2: indicates that the Interlank bus is faulty.
  • Other boards: indicates that the standby crystal oscillator of the clock stops.

Parameters 2 and Parameters 3

  • HUNS3: When Parameter 1 is 0x08, it indicates that the temperature is abnormal. When Parameter 3 is 0xff and Parameter 2 is 0x01, it indicates that the temperature is excessively low. When Parameter 2 is 0x02, it indicates that the temperature is too high.
  • HUND2, EM10, and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x01, it indicates that the clock chip is faulty. When Parameter 2 is 0x01 and Parameter 3 is 0xff, it indicates that the 1588 second frame header is faulty.
  • HUND2: When Parameter 1 is 0x0c, it indicates that the Interlank bus is faulty. When Parameter 2 is 0x01, it indicates that the Interlank bus between SD8752 and SD5890 is abnormal. Parameter 3 indicates the ID of the faulty channel.
  • HUNS3, HUND2, EM10, and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x0d, it indicates that the processor is faulty. When Parameter 2 is 0x90, it indicates that a soft error occurs on the SD5890 chip. Parameter 3 indicates the internal module of the SD5890 chip.
  • HUNS3, EM10, and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x12, it indicates that a clock component fault occurs. Parameter 3 is always 0xff. The meanings of Parameter 2 are as follows:

  • EM10 and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x14, it indicates that a power supply fault occurs. When Parameter 2 is 0x08 and Parameter 3 is 0xff, it indicates that the backup 3.3 V voltage is abnormal.
  • EM10 and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x15, it indicates that other faults occur. When Parameter 2 is 0x01 and Parameter 3 is 0xff, it indicates that the I2C bus is abnormal.
  • HUND2, EM10, and EM20: When Parameter 1 is 0x16, it indicates that an analog PLL fault occurs. When Parameter 3 is 0xff and Parameter 2 is 0x1, it indicates that the SPI is abnormal. When Parameter 2 is 0x2, it indicates that the flash logic fails to be loaded automatically.
  • EM10: When Parameter 1 is 0x19, it indicates that the I2C bus is faulty. When Parameter 2 is 0xff, it indicates that the I2C bus of the optical module is abnormal. Parameter 3 indicates the optical module number.
Other boards:
  • When Parameter 1 is 0x08 and Parameter 2 is 0x01, it indicates that bus A is abnormal; When Parameter 1 is 0x08 and Parameter 2 is 0x02, it indicates that bus B is abnormal. Parameter 3 is 0xff.
  • When Parameter 1 is 0x06, 0x0d, 0x0e, 0x0f, 0x12, 0x13, 0x14, 0x16, 0x19, or 0x21, Parameter 2 and Parameter 3 have different values, which indicate different component, module, or chip faults.
  • When Parameter 1 is 0x15, a fault on other units of the local board, a fault on other boards, or a fault on other units of other boards.
  • When Parameter 1 is of another value, Parameter 2 and Parameter 3 are always 0xff.

Possible Causes

The board hardware is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Perform warm reset or cold reset on the faulty board through the NMS.
  2. If the alarm persists, replace the faulty board.
