Description

The DDN_ALOS alarm indicates the loss of signals on the DDN port. This alarm is reported if no service is input on the DDN port.

Impact on the System

When the DDN_ALOS alarm occurs, the services transmitted in the path are interrupted.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the DDN_ALOS alarm are as follows:

  • The DDN service is not accessed.
  • The DDN equipment interconnected to the path is faulty.
  • The output port of the DDN interface on the DDF side is disconnected or loose.
  • The input port of the DDN interface at the local station is disconnected or loose.
  • The board is faulty.
  • The cable is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Query the alarm on the NMS. View alarm parameters to determine the board that reports the alarm and determine the number of the channel that reports the alarm.
  2. Check whether the cable between the local board and the peer board is properly connected.

    If… Then...

    The cable is properly connected,

    Connect both ends of a cable to the peer device to form a loop, and check whether the peer device works normally.

    The cable is not properly connected,

    Connect the cable properly. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

  3. Check whether the DDN service on the channel of the board is received.

    If… Then...

    The DDN service is received,

    Go to the next step.

    The DDN service is not received,

    After the DDN service is received, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

  4. Perform a service self-loop on the channel (hardware inloop) at the digital distribution frame (DDF).

    The inloop causes service interruption.

    If… Then...

    The alarm is cleared,

    Rectify the fault on the peer device. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The alarm persists,

    Go to the next step.

  5. Perform a service self-loop on the channel (hardware inloop) on the interface board.

    The inloop causes service interruption.

    If… Then...

    The alarm is cleared,

    Rectify the fault in the signal cable. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The alarm persists,

    Go to the next step.

  6. On the NMS, configure an inloop on the channel.

    The inloop causes service interruption.

    If… Then...

    The alarm is cleared,

    Reseat or replace the interface board. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.

    The alarm persists,

    Replace the board that reports the alarm. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
