Description

The IN_PWR_LOW alarm indicates that the actual input optical power is lower than the lower threshold of the input power reference value.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The bending radius of the fiber jumper is less than 6 cm, the optical fiber is damaged, or the optical fiber connector is loose or dirty.
  • Cause 2: The transmit power of the opposite end is over low.
  • Cause 3: Inapplicable optical modules are used.
  • Cause 4: The optical module at the receive end is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The bending radius of the fiber jumper is less than 6 cm, the optical fiber is damaged, or the optical fiber connector is loose or dirty.
    1. Check whether the bending radius of the fiber jumper is within the specified range. If the bending radius is less than 6 cm, spool the fiber jumper again. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, check whether the optical fiber is intact. If the optical fiber is damaged, replace the optical fiber, and check whether the alarm is cleared.
    3. If the alarm persists, check whether the fiber connector is firmly connected. Ensure that the fiber connector is firmly connected, and check whether the alarm is cleared.
    4. If the alarm persists, follow the instructions in Checking the Optical Fiber Connector to check whether the fiber connector is clean and intact. If the fiber connector is dirty or damaged, clean or replace the connector. For details, see Cleaning the Optical Fiber Connector.
    5. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: The transmit power of the opposite end is over low.
    1. On the NMS, follow the instructions in Querying the Optical Power to check whether the output power of the board connected to the alarm board is lower than the value listed in Specifications of Optical/Electrical Modules.

      The output optical power is lower than the value listed in Specifications of Optical/Electrical Modules

      Remove a proper attenuator at the receive end, and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.

      The output optical power is normal

      Go to 3.

  3. Cause 3: Inapplicable optical modules are used.
    1. Check whether applicable optical modules are used at both receive and transmit ends based on the transmission distance.

      Replace the optical modules or board.

      Applicable optical modules are used

      Go to 4.

  4. Cause 4: The optical module at the receive end is faulty.
    1. Replace the optical module or board at the receive end.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support personnel to handle the alarm.
